if you really pay attention to your cats behavior and what it does you will notice several days before the kittens are born(2or3)you will find your cat looking in,or under places it usually never even bothers to go other wise.Usually places that are away from every day activities, under a bed under the stairs, behind a dresser or under, because she is actually looking for a place to have them, she might even come to you purring and wanting attention like never before(but that is usually about 30-40 minutes before they give birth)if you do notice her licking her self ALL the time it is because her water has broke and the labor has started,if you can find her an old sheet or blanket to use tucked away in a quiet corner she will actually let you watch ,as long as you DO NOT get in her way.you will be able to tell if she wants you there or not.as for you being able to feel the kittens inside her,all you have to do is lay her on her side and you will be able to SEE the kittens moving around,it is a pretty neat thing...good luck to you and your mother in the future!!

They go thru the same thing women do minus the cursing and screaming at everyone in the room. They will be restless at first trying to find a good spot. Then they will pant and u will see the stomach area tightening up with contractions. And u should notice them kinda pushing as if the were constipated. You may even notice the first water break.

Yes u can feel them and even see them move sometimes. A good vet can even tell u about how many are in there just by gently rubbing the stomach.

Birth is imminent when the nipples of the mother cat are slightly swollen and red. They give milk when pinched slightly. Also mama cats begin to "nest" (they try find a place to give birth in dark places) and the kittens tend to be more active...

If she like you she will let you know,so look out. When my husband cat start to give birth she refuses to let my husband out of her sight. She would not let anyone touch her or look at her. And yes you can feel the kittens before hand. If she not in sight go look for her hint it will be somewhere she can smell you on the idea like your closets or under your chair or under the bed..
