I live with my dad and I turn to him for advice every once in a while. I was going to buy a digital camera or a new phone. Not both because of budgeting. My dad thinks buying a new phone would be a waste b/c my phone works fine, and that disposible cameras are fine. I think opposite. Anyway come to find out he had a digital camera. Never used and about 4 yrs old by cannon. Hes given it to me. It works perfectly. Its just a bit heavy. I was thinking to buy a newer model by kodak anyway, for size reasons but a refurbished one, so I wouldnt pay full price. Would that be a waste? since this old one works fine? Its just really heavy. I figure I could buy the refurbished one, and I would have saved enough to buy the new phone also without breakin the bank.

I think that souds good - i always want a new phone so i totaly know what your goin through - my Razor phone takes Awesome pics - well good enough for me that is :) if you want you can pawn that camera of your dads and see if you get some extra money for it - or see if he has the recipt and is the camera still in the origional box? - most of the time walmart or target (or any of these stores like it) will take things back with the recipt or if you dont have it they will let you exchange it - tell them you got it for your birthday and that you wanted to get a differnt model - most of the time walmart dosnt check what they have in stock just what you bring back to the front desk - so then you could get a great deal on a new camera and maybe just have to add a lil extra cash instead of paying all for a new one - then you would have your money left over to get a new phone - also do you have insurance on your phone? if you do break it or tell them you lost it and you can get a newer one for just a lil more money instead of the whole new price - if you dont have insurance get it and then wait for it to go through and then pull what i just said above - i hope this helps.... if you have any more questions feel free to contact me lilrebelchick@yahoo.com!! Good Luck !!

It is a waste of money to buy a new camera if you are not into photography at all and all you want to do is to take pictures of your friends passing out after a night of drinking. It is totally depending on how you use the item. To buy something that you don't use too often is a waste of money. It is like, you would never consider a professional photographer wasting his money when he spend $300 on a new flash. So I think only you know the answer to your question.

This is easy!
Use the camera you have to list stuff on e-bay,build up your
pay-pal account,and buy a camera you like on e-bay.
Use the new camera to photograph your dad's old camera and
sell it on e-bay. Use that money to buy accessories for your new
camera if needed.List more stuff and save up for the phone you
want!
Good Luck!,Go For It!

Hey . . you want a phone and a camera. You don't want to spend too much money. Do you know you can get free phone by just renew your hp contract ? If you don't have a line, just apply one with any one of the operators. Get the hand phone with camera feature.

It would be an honest waste of money. Canon's image quality is far better than what Kodak's is, even now. Also, memory cards for the old Canon are going to be a little less expensive.
