the safest and "MY" preferred way, using a smaller boat is to tether it along side the boat and bring it dock side that way. If you have a bit larger boat than I use," a 17 footer" you can winch it in, third choice "For Me" is using a small caliber hand gun brain shoot it, and after it stops fighting bring it on board! Good Luck & use caution, even a small one can inflect serious damage to you and your boat!

You could tie it up to the back of the boat if you have an inboard and a small wooden plank.. If you have an outboard,, best to use a shotgun or handgun and shot it in the brain. Just have to be careful if you put it in the boat. Sharks move alot especially in a hyper state. They'll flap open and slam shut their jaws. If it's a really big shark, say 400 pounds, it's best to shot it. They could stay alive for over one hour, if not two.

Guns in boats is inviting trouble. IF, you catch a really big one, cut the line and let it go, I mean, what are you going to do with it? If you really have to get it dockside, put a tail rope on it and tow it backwards through the water, but, be warned, we towed a 5ft hammerhead shark backwards for 20mins and when we stopped to check if it was dead it swivelled round in its own length and started snapping and gnashing its teeth. Another 40mins did the trick.
