We have absolutely nothing to fear from North Korea. They will never use nuclear weapons against anybody. Even Kim Jong-Il as crazy as he is would never dare to attack the U.S. If, hypothetically, they did launch a nuclear attach on the U.S or anybody we would retaliate eith nuclear weapons also and completely destroy the country and all things in it. We would destroy their military, government, and all their industry. The only reason they are making nuclear weapons and being so threatening is because they want our aid. North Korea is a very poor country with little industry and very few ways to make any money at all. It's people are starving and it's economy collapsing. Their last option is too frighten the major nations around the world into giving them money so that they will not lose power and actually have a chance at retaining power.

There's many logical reasons that N. Korea shouldn't launch a nuclear strike at the US or S. Korea.

Altho a poor country, DPRK military policy focuses on maintaining and sustaining a military force capable of conducting an offensive operation into the ROK to attain the national goal of reunifying the peninsula. It is based on three fundamental and interconnected concepts shaped by Kim Il-song's vision of the future of the Korean Peninsula:

Eventual reunification, DPRK regime survival and leadership of a unified Korea, and the application of military force to achieve reunification.

What resources they have are going to the hardened facilities near the 38th parallel. The Country is a nation of holes, tunnels and other hardened facilities. It wouldn't be national suicide, in their eyes, since most of their military would be underground. While I like your logic, i do think Kim would 'dare' to attack the South.

North Korea itself isn't the problem. We leveled that entire country all the way to the Chinese border during the Korean war and we could do it again with just conventional weapons. The problem is the same as during the korean war...North Korea is China's bastard child. Are we ready for a nuclear exchange with them, because that's what it would take. We are tough but we can't take on a billion conventionally. That's why I think it's time for a heart to heart with China. They aren't crazy. Tell them this crazy man has got to be stopped and either they do it or we will. At least then we are putting them on notice and letting them know that we're being backed into a corner and we're not staying there, but that we don't want war with them(the chinese)
Sorry Kronos I didn't read your complete comment....I don't know...I hope you are right but I'm not sure this guy has the sense to understand the situation. For the very reason I sited above I see him as being like a little kid trying to get away with stuff because his daddy or his big brother's with him. NK still despises us for what we did to them in the war...it was humiliating...they'd love to humiliate back...bring down the mighty USA..

You are correct about the retaliation strikes. But no one wants to destroy a country capable of rehabilitation and land mass resource. Also, one missile from any country could boggle retarded people and countries as in who to launch against, since computers do err if they are not kept up.

I think what is so fearful about NK is that they are more Communist than Lenin or Stalin ever dreamed of being. At least they would communicate with us even if it was verbal warfare. It's kind of like if they were alive today, they would say "Jesus, we've created a Frankenstein that may even destroy us one day!"

And they are so secretive and quiet, it's kind of like they are watching us and waiting for a weak day, like a tiger.

We have everything to fear of North Korea. How do you really know they wouldnt attack us? How do you know they would be the only ones against us if they do? And does the US really have the stomach for the colateral damage? We get outraged for what, 10 people because a bomb didnt hit the target exactly... imagine the politicians after we wipe out North Korea! The only way we could do this is if we were attacked first and theyre attack didnt hit key targets in the US that would cripple our counter-attack.

Does the idea of a nuclear "retaliation" not scare you? It means we've been nuked and threating a retaliation isn't the best defense.

And the idea of being blackmailed into "aiding" a depressed nation is pathetic. If they want help they could have it for the asking if the leadership simply sought peace instead of weapons of terrible destructive powers.

I wouldn't say it is fear of a nuclear attack. What I am afraid of is another Cold War. When a country, any country, starts testing and building ballistic (meaning long range) nuclear missiles, then oh by golly here we go again with another cold war....

We're afraid everyone's going to bomb us because everyone hates us. We're the only one allowed with enough nuclear weapons to blow up the world multiple times!!

We don't know what they have in store. They are a bunch of people who don't care about the lives of others. One missile could spell one nuclear bomb. Damn communists...
