It can be quite difficult, but heres some tips.
Use a styling product that gives a wet look, but always use mousse before scunching.
Make sure to use a diffuser, and put your hairdryer on the hottest seat, lowest speed.
Scrunch the hair with your hands, not just the diffuser.
After appling, use a small amount of a really thick conditioner, and run tiny amounts through individual sections, to define them, because your hair is thicv you can get away with this, but dont overdo it!

Well I have that same problem!! I have REALLY thick hair & it used to hardly stay scrunched. But if you do it for like a week in a row it will get to where it stays better. & use a good mousse & a little bit of gel then scrunch it all up into clips & spray some hairspray on it & blow dry it but on a lower setting let it almost completely dry & then take it down & shake it & spray it on top & add a little more gel if you'd like & it may stay pretty poofy for a lil while but it will go down. I love the way it looks hopefully you will do...hope I helped.

First, use a good conditioner, or spray in a leave-in conditioner after you get out of the shower. Then, get an anti-frizz serum, like frizz-ease, and put it in your hair when it's soaking wet. Comb it out with your fingers, and then scrunch in either gel or mousse (I use mousse). Scrunch with a towel to set in the curl and get any excess moisture out, then DON'T TOUCH IT. The more you touch it while it's drying, the more it will frizz. Then when it's dry, do one upside-down hair shake to loosen it up just a bit and give you some body.

I have thick hair too. If I scrunch it and let it air dry it's curlier than if I scrunch it and blow dry it.
I get the best results from hot rollers. I used to think they'd be too much of a hassle but once I did it a few times it became routine and didn't take as much time in the morning.

Try not to condition it when you want to scrunch it if you use something like Pantene, because it will weigh down your hair and the curls won't stick. Try using anti-frizz serums on your hair, and they make scrunch sprays that work really well with them. If the sprays aren't strong enough try using a mouse or light gel.

Well when you get out of the shower, comb your hair out. Then put mousse with hairspray when it's still wet, Blow dry it with a diffuser (little bowl looking thing that comes with the hair dryer) and that should do the trick! Good luck.
