God doesn't care whether my head is covered, only men practice that kind of bigotry.

Some people believe the hair is a covering. I found out when I visited St. Patrick's Cathedral in New York and churches in Europe years ago that one had to be modest- covered hair for women and no bare sleeve.I do not know if it has changed. I wear hat of some kind- whether a hat, headband or turban-like headgear,Having to wear a hat/veil when you pray is not always applicable. A friend might invite you to a church at short notice and when you refuse, the friend may say come as you are. In order to reach people, allowances have to be made for their insufficiency or unpreparedness. Women who preach formally as a pastor/evangelist should wear headgear. Lydia, in Acts was a preacher who met by the river (outdoors). She was rich and I suspect well-dressed..The woman at the well(John 4) was definitely a spirit-filled preacher.I do not know if she competed with the amount Peter got at Pentecost.Dorcas preached by her life work(social service) and ministry.People forget that we are the church, the called out body delivered from darkness to walk in light.Anyone, who has been called out whether ordained or not, has a commission to go everywhere preach and teach and pray without ceasing whether or not the head is covered.

There are some Traditional Roman Catholics and Eastern Orthodox women who cover their heads in church. I think in some African American Christian churches women wear hats as part of their "Sunday best" outfits. I don't know if it is just part of their culture or for reasons of holiness. Some women don't want to be looked at for their physical beauty but for who they are as people. That may be close to the practical reasons for Muslem women to do so. I have never covered my head in church or while praying. I sort of like the idea of wearing a scarf or bandana from time to time, though.

When I was growing up women in our Catholic Church were told to cover their heads in Church. I left the Catholic Church as an adult and I'm not sure but I don't think they cover their heads anymore.
I read somewhere that the original reasons for covering their heads in early christian times was so the women would not be mistaken for prostitutes who flaunted their hair.

Biblically it is required in the pauline epistles, but many churches who are fundamentalist in other ways tend to ignore this verse. I'm not personally a Christian, so I wouldn't wither way, but technically, if they believe in following New Testament laws then they should. Doesn't bother me one way or the other. It also says women are not to preach, and also that there is no gender before god, and there is also mentions of Priscilla, wife of Aquilla, in the Pauline letters preaching. So, the issue's up in the air.

I haven't read anywhere in the bible were it says to cover you head. But it does say only men are to preach. King James Bible. It doesn't mean that you can't talk about the bible or anything like that, a women is just not suppose to be a preacher.

Absolutely not! There was never any reason to in the first place. Just another way the Church has oppressed women. How could God be offended by a woman's head? The whole idea is silly.

Do you dress in Roman fashion, speak Greek in a Hellenistic world, do you walk or ride a horse (or donkey)? I don't think so.
Why have you taken this phrase (not even a sentence) out of context? Paul was addressing Corinth about conduct. Was he addressing you? No.
If I had the energy (which I don't), I would explain Paul's letter to you. But let me start with 1 Cor 10:23-24 with emphasis on verse 24.

hello cyndi! as for me i would cover my head when i pray, and if i were a preacher i would also cover my head as well. the reason i would cover my head is to show respect to God. the head of a man represents christ and the female is from man,so yes i would cover my head and that is the reason why... hope that i have given you some kind of insight....

Unlike the rest of the Catholic women in my parish, I wear my mantilla and Rosary every time I attend Mass (Daily as well as Saturday and Sunday). I believe in tradition and this, for me, is an expression and appreciation of my faith.
