Yes the bible say to have fellowship, and to set aside a day for the Lord to rest and worship.

Does it really say you are committed to church every week?

In the bible day they went either once a year, or every three years.

speaking from experience and observing others: that moment you decide to stop going to the church is a first step to other direction. U do not listen the priest, still think you are good enough but gradually start swearing, abandon prayers, take an easy life style and finally forget how wonderful atmosphere is inside of the temple when you're fully connected to the divine power. The body is a temple when you're communicate and later take care about state of your soul not letting in the bad things. Practice makes master - that works in every field of life!

Many people find the presence of God(s) in the vastness of the wilderness, or a blanket of fresh snow, on a secluded mountaintop, or next to a quiet, shady brook.Any where but a church. Spirituality is within you, in your heart and mind Where you go to explore that is a personal matter. Some will try to tell you that you need the confines of a sanctified place of worship to experience the full flavor of you beliefs, But your own mind is the only chapel you need, Your relationship with your Deity is between you and Him/her, and you may choose where and when to call upon that.

If you consider that there is a difference between simple worship and having a relationship with God, and you believe that God is a loving being who wants to know you and you to know Him, then why would you not want to learn about Him (church, sermons) and talk to Him (pray)? The church is Jesus's "bride" according to scriptures. What is "belief" without action?

IN the bible days they went to temple once a year...they went to church every day...Acts 2...they met daily. Our body is the temple. That's why we don't go to temple. :)

Given the current state of organized religions, you are probably better off staying clear of most churches. Sad, but true.
You can make your own peace with God without a church.

I for one do not think I need to go to church to be spiritual. I feel more spiritual than religious. I can sit in the garden, on the back porch, on my bed, wherever and I can concentrate on a prayer or a meditation and I feel one with the Universe and the Creator.

I think that religion is a personal thing and your spirituality has nothing to do with your church attendance record. Fellowship is relative - fellowship can also be personal.

You dont have to go to church to be religious. When you become a christian the bible does say to assemble yourselves together and worship in his name ... there is a difference in having a religion and bein a christian ... anyone can go to church and say they are religious and anyone can say that they are a christian but to walk the walk and maintain an image like Christ is to be a Christian...

Umm...i dont know if this is going to help you or something...but i will try...ok:
i dont go to church every sunday as much people do...however i am still christian. i pray, i talk to God, and i believe in God...and if i must say, He DOES help me a lot...so i dont think that God only helps you if you attend church. i think he listens to everybody and its not his fault people have fixed the bible in so many different ways.

I consider myself religious, I have a strong faith and belief in God, I try every day to be the best person I can be, but I don't go to church. Some people go to church just to look good to their friends. I don't want to be like that, maybe I should go but I don't. and I'm okay with it.
