for accomadation check out the internet site hotel club, they have some good last minute and also hot deals, i stayed at davis hotel soi sukumvit last year for $32 australian a night that is about 1100 thai baht if you want night life there are various night markets or places like patpong - but better areas to visit are nana plaza, soi cowboy or soi 33, soi 22 also has some good bars, day time do not be in a rush to get up early morning most things do not get going until late morning, go to the floating markets about 70kms outside of bangkok, travel around bangkok can be easy on the likes of the bts and mrt, taxis can be slow in busy periods, make sure the driver uses the meter! quicker are taxi motorbikes if you do not mind taking a risk! taking a tuk tuk is ok but pay the fair do not take a super cheap deal unless you want to be taken to varios gem shops and taliors. if you have never been to bangkok it can be hot humied and hectic, but also so much fun! if you are bartering this is ment to be fun so do not get upset, if you do not intend to buy do not stand and barter! have fun

Howdy. September: Wet season. Might as well go shopping. Stay at the Maenam Hotel on the Chaophraya river (a shade over 50 bucks and it's well worth it) Get the express boat along the river and see the sights for 20 cents. Take the skytrain from Saphan Taksin station and go to Mor Chit station. Get off and walk to Chatuchak market (WEEKENDS ONLY). This is an amazing market where you truly can buy anything. Hope you like my suggestions!

There are many good advices above me. You can go o www.tourismthailand.org for events and happenings in Thailand during your visit period for anything that might be happening too. Also gives you a list of things you can do and places to visit. If you are not too sure how to do it, at the hotel you stay in, any hotel, there is a travel desk. Have them arrange the tours for you. You just pay and enjoy. You can even discuss with them on your interests and let them arrange it for you. Service all the way, typical Thai style.
Have a good holiday.
