No. If you try to help it only makes it worse. Let someone else take care of him and try to help him. I'm sure he must have friends that are there for him. It is his problem, not yours. You need to back away and get on with your life. This is not a selfish attitude, but one that is good for both of you. If you stick around he will never learn to function without you.

No..you can't help. This is a person who needs to learn to feel comfortable without someone to lean on..really. You'd be doing him no favor by reinforcing his dependency; Time to move along.
