Your question took awhile to figure out, the spits is what confused me.
All I could picture was a retriever that spits at you.
It is not a good idea to cut any breed dogs hair.
It is their natural insulation.

Take him to a groomer and find out. Most dogs can be clipped but not completely shaved. All dogs should be clipped and groomed if their hair is long to remove tangles, burrs and shedding hair. Especially in the summertime. Your dog will appreciate it.

sure u can do anythgn to a dog, but call a groomer... don't do it yourself... vets are too much money for what u need dog, a groomer depending on where u go.. it will cost anywhere from $20 to $35

I really think you should ask a vet that question or your mom and dad. Or a groomer might help you.
