I'll admit it right now - degrassi shouldn't be rated PG. (I actually think it's PG-13, but that's not the arguement...) It is no worse than a LOT of what's on TV lately; the best of shows even have at least one reference to all that is listed above. (Desperate housewives, LOST, Gray's Anatomy et cetra) I watch Degrassi sometimes, and I am 14. It was reccomended to me by a few friends at the age of 13. But it really is good TV - I think once the child is old enough to understand the storyline and have a desire to watch it, they are old enough to BE watching it. The references to sexuality are actually rather minimal; besides, it's not like they don't hear it at school. I'd say no younger than 13.

well that doesn't sound like a PG rating to me, BUT I have never see the Show. My cousins watch the TV show and they let their 9 year old daughter watch it with them, and then after wards her and her mom talk about all the Stuff that was on the show. It seems that she is getting an Education about the Stuff she needs to know, and it works for them. oh and BTW she will be 10 in about a month.

My daughter started to watch it at 12 (she attends a private Christian school). She is pretty mature and I had already talked about several issues that are addressed on this show as her school does not. However, we watch the show together and "process" these issues accordingly. I think it is a brave show for tackling the issues it does. Not all of these issues occur at our high schools and I would be afraid to go to a real life Degrassi, but I think what they are attempting to do (educate children and their parents of issues teens face TODAY) is needed and appropriate.
They also deal with teen dating violence (domestic abuse between a boy and girl that were dating).
These things happen in real life and our teens (and we as parents) need to know!

15! 15 is a good age because it's the age that kids are going to high school and they need to know about these things. That show is a little racy for TV PG, but you have to remember that it is made in Canada where the TV ratings aren't as strict.
