Yes it is ridiculous and disgusting. Homosexuals have a right to their beliefs and their lifestyle. However, if they really were Christians they would know that this is an abomination to God and would respect their Lord by changing thier lives and repenting of their sins.

I do not believe it is 'ridiculous'. As many have said before, 'homosexuality' is not the reason God destroyed Sodom and Gamorrah (it's not too hard to figure this out from reading scripture). Perhaps it is a sin, but who are we to judge other sinners? Only the Lord holds that right. We cannot judge people who consider themselves Christian and gay - we are to show all people compassion, love, mercy... If we forget that, we are just adding to our own sin.
I know a few 'gay' Christians. Celibate gay Christians. I don't see the problem in that - the compainionship, the love is there. Not the sexual acts, though. I also know gay Christians who are not celibate. I pray for them just the same as I pray for all other sinners - and I believe that is what God wants us all to do, not sit here and call them 'ridiculous' and say that they can't be Christians because of one of their many sins.

Soddom and Gamorra were destroyed because the people in it disobeyed the hospitality laws. But I agree in essence.
Gays are not welcome in christianity. They should go over to polytheistic religions. You have quite a number of religions to choose from. Helenismos (Greek reconstructionism) is favored because they actively like homosexuals. Only the Asatrur (Of the recon faiths) dislike homosexuals.
For that matter women aren't welcome in christianity either. They are frowned upon as leaders and the bible actually says that a woman should serve their man. A good choice for religion here would be Neopagan faiths such as wicca. These religions are female oriented and even give women a higher place than men simply for being a woman.
Scholarship is frowned upon in christianity also. Christians don't like to be told that they aren't reading things in context. For these people you might try a good old fashioned middle eastern faith such as Sumerian Reconstructionism or Canaanite Reconstructionism. These faiths offer a historical and religious context that will allow you to see where christians get their concepts. This is how I know about Sodom and Gamorrah. Abraham was from the city of Ur, what do you think he believed?

No I don't find 2 people caring about each other ridiculous. What I do find ridiculous is people who call them Christian and then proceed to pass judgment on everybody around them based on their own hypocritical ignorant interpretation of a book. You better hope that your God is not nearly as judgmental and unforgiving as you seem to think he is. If everybody that doesn't do exactly as the Bible says is going to hell I bet I see you there and I'm not gay just intelligent enough to know that I'm not perfect and am in no position to pass judgment on anybody else. Maybe you should read your Bible again cause I'm pretty sure there's something to the effect of judge not who are you to tell anybody what they should be doing? Some punk *** kid on a computer Yeah your the closest thing to God on earth right? People like you are why I no longer call myself a Christian and when the day comes that I have to explain that to my God he'll understand because my God is a kind and forgiving God. Peace!! You could use some.

Okay, Christian schoolgirl bit coming out here...
The Judeo-Christian god did not destroy Sodom and Gommorah for homosexuality, he destroyed them for being inhospitable to strangers. I am tired of the ignorant KJV people thinking that homosexuality was the sin that destroyed those cities.
Second, there are people who are gay. Some of those people also believe in the Judeo-Christian god. By the fundamentalist definition (and i should know, spending 7 yrs in various fundamentalist schools) the *only* definition of a Christian is someone who believes in Jesus as his saviour. Period. Therefore, someone can be Christian and be gay. It might be harder on them, but some people can't justr change what they believe just because they're no longer the stereotype.

Yes i find it ridiculous. Frequently the Bible depicts homosexuality as a sin: Genesis 19:1-13; Leviticus 18:22; Romans 1:26-27; 1 Corinthians 6:9 etc. Not once does God condone homosexuality!
God does not create a person with homosexual desires. The Bible tells us that a person becomes a homosexual because of sin (Romans 1:24-27), and ultimately because of their own choice. A person may be born with a greater susceptibility to homosexuality, just as people are born with a tendency to violence and other sins. That does not excuse the person choosing to sin by giving into their sinful desires.

I don't think I'd use the word ridiculous...and I mean no criticism in your using it. In reading the bible, there is a verse that says there will be a time when people not only condone sin...but they will encourage others to do it. This particular "sin" seems to have incredibly vocal proponents. I think it's more puzzling than anything else. The bible is so clear. What is interesting is how determined the wresting of scripture is on this subject....in order to fulfill what, in my opinion, is a fleshly desire.
I leave judgment to God....but I know my bible.

The problem from your point of view is that Christianity has no basis in reality, and therefore it can be all things to all people. If there was really a god and he came to us all in person and said "you can't be a Christian if you're gay" then maybe you'd have a point, but as it is the Bible is undeniably something produced by humans and it therefore has exactly as much and as little authority as anyone else's view on what constitutes Christianity.

I don't find it ridiculous. There is evidence that people are born with that tendency, and many sects of Christianity accept people as gay. And instead, they only shun the actual act of anal penetration. And there are many gay men who have either never had "sex" or have only done it a couple of times.
Also, I really think it's a double-standard the way people want to get on a high horse about gays. If someone believes that being gay is a sin, fine. That's your right to believe that. But lots of other things are considered sins too. Why aren't people organizing protests against premarital sex? Oh yeah, that's right. Because that's how the REST of us sin. =P

It is possible to be a Christian and still gay. But like any other sin, the person needs to be repenting of it and asking Jesus to change them so that they will not sin any more.
Many people feel that because they say that are Christian, then they will go to heaven no matter what.
