First off GO NAVY!!
Second the NAVY will be deploied anywhere in the world in a moments notice (Sea Air and Land) seams to have rang a bell.
The NAVY Spouce is without their otherhalf about 3/5 the time a person is assigned to a ship, or Det. There are support groupes at the bases to help when the spouce if deploied. If assistance is needed MWR and/or a Sister ship/Unit will have persons to assist.
And Lastly GO NAVY!!!

To the person that said "you navy babies dont leave your ships", you have no idea what you are talking about.
I'm Navy
2 years in Afghanistan and 6 months in Iraq since 2001.
Navy wife is hard because we are gone a LOT. In the last 7 years, I've been gone 4 1/2 years.
For that matter, any military spouse has to deal with a lot.

Yes they can. They are starting were the sailors have to do a tour out there. Sailors go out all the time. Don't think for one moment there job isn't dangerous. We wives are at home with the kids. There is no brakes when the husband is away. We have all the house work and yard work. Running the kids around all the time. Taking care of them, cooking 3 meals a day. Then they miss there daddy. So you have to help them.. The whole time you keep your feelings down. So they can't see them. Of corse you are worried about your sailor all the time. You don't know if they are ok sept for when they get a chance to call. At least they know they are ok. I'm a navy wife. But i will defend all military wives and husbands. It is a hard job. When you husband or wife is gone. A military family is a hard life for everyone. Including the one in the military. But I don't regret it one bit.

Navy wife is the hardest job in the Navy.
Army wife is the hardest job in the Army.
Marine wife is the hardest job in the Marines.
Military wives have to run two lives (the life by themselves while you are on float and the one with you home), and they are expected to switch seamlessly and selflessly between one and the other at the unpredictable whim of the powers that be. Add managing frequent moves, meager finances, children's emotions, and often tramatized husbands and one can see how it would be hard. The fear of injury or death to ones husband is just icing on the cake.
Praise God anyone is willing to take that kind of a job on.

The navy does to go to Iraq!!!!A friend of mine had 3 days to pack, spend time with his kids( A 5yr-old,a 3yr-old and a 6 month old) before he had to leave to go to training for 6 months then he had to go to Iraq to do work, he's not a sailor tho...Navy wives just are alone alot and there husbands get sent in deploments a lot(most of the time regular people don't even know that we have personel in a place and they send NAVY ppl on ships to do work in places (such as Africa, a few years ago my dad was sent there, and he's former NAVY)

The Navy does go to Iraq......Off the coast. As far as your future wife she will bang all the guys while you are gone. ( They all do ) When the ships depart the women's legs depart wide open. That's just the way it is. Here's what I heard while I was in the Navy. ( Husband leaves for over seas duty ) "Boo whooo!! My hubby is gone". Three hours later in the military club one hears..." Oh Boy!! Take me home and give it to me". That's just a fact of life in the Navy.

It's hard, but if you were married and made the decision together for you to join...you are aware of what you are getting into, deal with it. If you were in before you married...she knew that and must deal with it. Navy wives make it hard on themselves because so many women are too dependent on their husbands. I was a Navy wife for 7 years until my husband retired...I made it and without calling his command everyday crying about one thing or another!
