The Bible only mentions the war in Heaven briefly. You will find more of the story in what is known as the pseudepigrapha. These are writings that were not included in either the Jewish or Christian canon because the authors were uncertain and the books not conisdered authoritative. The Book of Enoch is one place that you can read more of this story about Lucifer.
You point out some good contradictions in the Bible story. What some theologians known as process theologians would say is that the idea that good is all-knowing is not a biblical idea and is erroneous. Process theologians believe that God knows everything up until the most present moment, and thus doesn not know with absolute certainy how we will decide any given issue.

hello ryan! first of all i understand how you feel about the war in heaven believe me i said the same thing, but after seeking God,and trying to find him i,ve learned that God is not only a God of love he is also the same God that gives you the freedom of choice... now sure God knew lucifer was going to change on him, but he also gave lucifer a freedom of choice lucifer took advantage of the other angels that followed him and thought well if i can persuade them then that means God must not have all that much control in heaven.unfortunetly for satan he thought wrong. now he knows that we are Gods prize possesion and that he is doomed for ever so he is trying to take as many people as he can with him because he knows that he has little time. i hope that i have answered you question okay.

The Bible says that there was a war in heaven and Lucifer and 1/3 of the angles revolted. The Bible shows that it happened during the time of Creation and Adam and Eve. God does know all, but He also gives us free will. The angles do not have free will and because Lucifer revolted he was punished with Eternal Darkness. We also suffer the same fate if we do not accept Jesus but it is our choice.

Revelation 12:7
And there was war in heaven. Michael and his angels fought against the dragon, and the dragon and his angels fought back.
and Hell ISN'T the kind of place that someone rules over -
judgement and dooom await ALL who go there- including Satan
what people shcould be MORE concerned about is getting the name in the Book od Life !!
1 Peter 2:4
For God did not [even] spare angels that sinned, but cast them into hell, delivering them to be kept there in pits of gloom till the judgment and their doom.
Revelation 20:14
Then death and Hades ( the state of death or disembodied existence) were thrown into the lake of fire. This is the second death, the lake of fire.
Revelation 20:15
And if anyone's [name] was not found recorded in the Book of Life, he was hurled into the lake of fire

God knows what we will do and hopes we will do the right thing. He might even nudge us in the right direction but we have free will and ultimately make our own decisions. God obviously gave satan Hell to rule over. Where else would he go? He wouldnt want him in heaven and at that point there was no earth so his only option was to create another realm.

Even though Jehovah God knows all things,he chooses not to.He gave us all the gift of free will to make our own choices. The same is true of the angel that became Satan. He misued his gift of free will and craved the worship that belonged to God and tricked the first human pair into disobeying their Creator.Thereafter he became known as Satan(meaning Resister)and Devil (meaning Slanderer).
The Bible doesnt state that God gave Satan anything to rule over.,lest of all a place called 'hell' which in the Bible doesnt refer to a fiery place of torment anyway. The word 'hell' is used to translate the Hebrew "she o'hl" and the Greek "hai'des",both words which refer to the common grave of mankind.,ie the grave we go to when we die and not a literal place."Hellfire" has been a basic teaching in Christendom for many centuries. It is understandable why The Encyclopedia Americana (1956,VolXIV,p.81)said:"Much confusion and misunderstanding has been caused through the early translators of the Bible persistently rendering the Hebrew Sheol and the Greek Hade and Gehenna by the word hell......".
The war that broke out in heaven took place in 1914 when Jesus began his rule as king of God's Kingdom. Before he started his Kingdom rule he first cleansed the heavens and that is why we read that Satan and his demons were thrown out of heaven to the vicinity of the earth.Hence, since 1914,the earth has experienced two world wars and hundred of minor wars, food shortages, pestilence, earthquakes. All these things were prophesised by Jesus to happen in the times we are now living.

The war in heaven is based partly on a poem by Milton called Paradise Lost. The rulership of the earth comes from zoroastreanism and is backed up by the book of enoch and the temptations of christ.

Adendum: Cesar D. You mentioned Sumerian texts, but you quoted Egyptian texts. (interesting texts though.) What did you mean by your first sentence?
Oh, and only about a third of the bible is based on Sumerian sources.

Satan does not rule over Hell. He is not even in Hell now. This is a common misconception concerning him. Hell is a place of torment, created for the devil and his angels. So he wouldn't want to be there until he absolutely had to. Revelation 12 speaks of a war in heaven, but speaks of it in a future tense, with Michael and the angels defeating Satan, and Christ binding him once and for all....

Contrary to popular belief the whole Lucifer and the war in heaven story isn't in the bible. (Not the official one anyway.) Mostly the common beliefs on it come from John Milton's Paradise Lost. He took most of his ideas for the story from the Book of Enoch which is one of those books that weren't quite good enough for the bible. (It has angels having sex with human women and they give birth to giants.)

I don't think you should look at this like a literal thing
Yes, God is omnipotent and knew that lucifer would betray him, in actuallity he CREATED lucifer to turn on him.
Lucifer is supposed to be our great test so that man is influenced by sin but turns to God anyway.
God created us to be able to choose sin or divinity because God is insecure and needs us to choose him for his own self esteem.
