it all starts in the way they were brought up. If their family told them its bad, then they believe it.

Because, they are afraid sometimes to express feelings. I really think some of it has to be part of society's stigma dictating that guys always have to be strong and masculine...and not cry..etc. I think guys are always expected to be hard..which in reality..is not realistic. This is pretty evident when they hang around other guys or in sports activities especially. Guys have feelings too even though they might not express them as much as girls. I actually feel it is a shame as well. However, I think most guys..would be able to show their softer side with their significant other.

Most of us are raised to think guys are suppose to be tough in any situation. It's unacceptable to be weak. In my case it's to many john wayne movies. I'll do some off the wall stuff just to get a tough guy check mark on my man card.

Some guys just have to be macho all the time. They associate sensitivity with weakness.
