I feel something is missing but I don't know what. I think the whole god thing is a lode of crud.

There are millions of people that don't believe in god, some of them are probably teenagers, it's fine.

Your beliefs are yours, if you feel that God does not exist then and that give you a sense of comfort and place in the world then enjoy. But an active rebellion against others telling you to believe and just because you don't want to follow, you choose a different path may lead you to a really scary place. The important thing is to read, ask questions and experience things from different points of view to come to a conclusion that you feel good about. Actually asking this question is a great place to start, read what others have to say and filter out the crud. Important, find a happy place and choice for you, it's your life. By the way I am a strong believer but only after I experinced a lot of good and bad, this combination of events were the proof I needed and not what others told me.

If you feel that something is missing, then you need something to fill the void within you.
I'm going out on a limb here, but I'm assuming your issues with the Christian god stem around the issue of salvation and damnation and the ever-present threats of Hell; I'm also guessing that you may have some problems with the fact that God, as you have always been taught to believe, is a man and that women are therefore somehow inferior.
If any of the above there applies to you, you may want to consider following the pagan path. There are quiet a few different religions on the pagan path, the most prevalent being Wicca. I'll go into Wicca because it's what I know best.
Wicca is an earth-centered religion which honors a god and a goddess, it is about balance. Neither the god nor the goddess is more powerful than the other, both are equal, as man and woman should be. There is no Hell, your soul is on a journey, going from one life to another (reincarnation), you are here on Earth to learn, not to be sent to burn in Hell for all eternity for not living up to God's standard of perfection. There is a deep appriciation for the Earth and all life that lives in it; we tend to be ecology-minded. You can try looking it up on the web, that's where I began my learning; you can also find books, Amazon is a great place to start, I got all my books there.
I hope this may help you in finding something to fill that void.

Well you must still be questioning that "lot of crud" then if you're asking about it. ^__^ hehe. As for not believing in God, I certainly wouldn't say you're in the majority... but it's not that abnormal. I do, and won't deny that. But as for you, if you feel something is missing... then something is missing. Only you can tell what you feel in your heart, soul, mind, or wherever you feel something isn't there. (Maybe all three.)

My suggestion is this: Try praying. I know it sounds cliche, and I'm not even saying you have to be all "into" it. You can't be, because you said yourself that you think it's a lot of crud. But just give it a little chance. It couldn't hurt... and maybe you'll start to feel something about whatever is missing.

You should also attend some different religious services. I'm not even going to say which ones... because I do believe in God and He works all those things out anyway. Just go with an open mind to learn. It has to start in the head anyway... belief or non-belief as an adult.

Anyhow, that is my advice. I hope maybe it helped a little.
Peace Love & Hugs, Holly Maria

I've been like you at your age. I felt the same way. It is not God you should seek, but rather seek to understand who you are. Find out the truth of yourself, why are you here, what does it mean to exist. What is beyond the five senses, and so on. Searching for answers to such questions eventually leads you to your inner Truth of who you truly are which will help clarify the concepts of God and religion.

I followed my own spiritual path solidarily. I did not understand God until my mid-20's. It was when I looked at it from a different perspective that helped me understand and get it. It was looking at it from a Native American perspective.

I read a lot of books on spirituality. Just whatever caught my attention and felt interesting to read always gave me more answers and more questions. That sent me on a personal journey. Where at 35 years old, I ended up practicing Hinduism. But I never had any intention nor goal of practicing a religion because I was fine and happy doing my own thing. It just felt so right for me.

Just follow your heart and intuition and let it take you on a very interesting personal, spiritual journey. Write about it because when you get older, you'll want to look back on and read how far you have grown!

There is a God and right now you dont look for God beacuse your focus is yourself.....those who earnestly seek God will find Him. I didnt know God until I was 33 and before that I did so many dumb things trying to do things my way, going along with the world which says you deserve this you have to take care of #1, yourself, money and sex are awesome and who cares if you sin, God cant see you, Im still a good person and Im doing well......but one day you will see that you need to put God 1st and get off your high horse. Because in one day you can be in the hospital with cancer, one day your husband could leave, one day your kids could be taken away, one day your house could be swept awat, all in a moment......You dont go to heaven by being good, you go to heaven because of you accept Jesus. You will never be good enough for heaven as you are right now and you are at an age where you are accountable for your actions. What are you living for? To be old and die and become dirt? Who made the world? Something came from nothing? Dont be fooled. Most people will go to hell and I want you to go to heaven, God bless, I will pray for you. Get a bible and read Matthew, Mark, Luke or John, takes one hour or less....www.biblegateway.com

I know how you feel I was like that and I tried filling the missing piece with anything I could like sex, drugs, and guys, but it didn't work; I didn't grow up knowing about God let alone a religion. A lot of people tried to tell me about God, but I didn't want to hear it. Frankly, born again Christians were the worst and I didn't like them and thought they were weird. It's funny cause I've become what I hated so much. No one could show me God. I found Him myself. At the time I needed him and he picked me up and showed me how much I was loved.Everyone on Earth has a missing piece inside them that can only be filled by one thing. From experience, I know it was God. Remember God is there and he love us even if we don't know if he's there. Best of luck.

In the end, you will always do better sticking with what makes sense to you. There is no point in letting peer pressure decide things one way or the other for you.

Many of us do not 'feel' god and the notion doesn't make sense to us. The harder thing is to realize that other people can and do feel differently.

Have you ever tried and asked God to change your mind about Him?
It is perfectly OK to ask something like this -
God, I really do not think that you exist. But if you do, I am now willing to believe you. Help me to know that you are real, take away this emptiness I have, and fill me with your love.

OK, I felt the same way at your age and the best thing you can do is IGNORE the bible and IGNORE the church and seek spiritual guidance in your own life. You can say a prayer asking the great spirits and masters to lead you on a path to spiritual enlightenment.
