Put flyers up on the comity boards. Make sure it is printed on color paper (stands out a lot more) Also I made a box and put my cards in there. That way they are not pulling off a smale peace with just a phone number, that can get lost easly. Paper ads can help but it needs ot have pics in there too. Print ads can get lost in the paper with every thing els. Word of mouth help alot but you need the people to know you.

Go to the park and talk to people with dogs. Ask them what they do for their pets when they are out of town and who grooms the pet. Start talking!!! Be your own sales person. Get together with someone who teaches dog obedience. Is there a vet who will allow him/her to post flyers. Or better yet is there a vet who does not do pet sitting care and boarding and set something up with the vet that he/she gets a % for every referral.
Offer a police report with his/her background as a background check if you do in home care

By walking numerous dogs at one time. Everytime I take my dogs and my families dogs for a walk I get bombarded with question. How much do I charge? Do I groom, board? We have 4 shelties ranging from 13 to 2 years and I really attract a lot of attention. Be sure and carry plenty of business cards>

Do some inexpensive marketing like passing out flyers or posting flyers at veterinary clinics or supermarkets. Offer some incentives such as free dog shampoos if they leave their pets in your care for a certain amount of time.

I would put up fliers where people who love animals would be, vet office's, pet stores, humane societies. Also, if you happen to have a shelter in your area, try volunteering- That way you meet people who love animals, and because you are volunteering, they think that you are a great animal person, and you will probably start getting references by the humane society staff.

Ask previous clients for a reference and permission to post them on a website or print ad. A good reference is your best marketing material. Also post flyers at groomers, vets. and in retirement areas especially, they travel a lot.

Make up flyers and put them in stores or go door to door with them. You could also take out and ad in local papers. Word of mouth works too. Offer some kind of discount if your customers refer people to you!
