My cats are so obvious in their emotions. They most definitely feel things like love, fear, lonliness, confusion and joy. My cats not only love me, they love each other, and their sister, the dog. My cats sleep with me every night, and when I was on vacation and a neighbor came over each day to feed them, but wasn't staying there, they missed me so much. All night long my first day back, both of them kept checking to make sure I was really there by touching me with their paws, or putting their noses on my face. The cats like to tease one another by hiding and pouncing on the other one when she walks by. They both like to play games of chase with their dog-sister and actually act in ways that invite her to join in the game. Cats and dogs are far more intelligent than we give them credit. At one time, I had five cats, and when I would call one of them by name, the other four would turn around and look at the one I called! (Of course, the one I called still ignored me) ;-)

Cats Love You Because You Feed Them And Love Them. And Take Care Of Them. And They No That They Are There For Them If Need Something.

I personally don't believe that at all!! I have had cats on and off in my life and they love me not just because I feed them, but they love me because I pay attention to them and play with them and I hold them. Cats show their affection for you differently than dogs. When a cat purrs, that means they are happy and content with you and their new home. Don't let some of these websites upset you so. I know that everyone has their own opinions about stuff. But that doesn't mean that they are right or accurate all the time.
Good luck to you and your cat. Cats can be great companions and make great friends for us to love them and for them to love us.
I hope I was some what helpful!

cats definitely can love you. As the owner of numerous cats over the last fifty years, I know this as fact. You get what you give. If you show love, your cat will give it back a thousandfold.
What website fed you that nonsense? "Dogs Rule"?
I see every day how much love a cat can give.And unlike the love of a dog(which is given to anyone unearned) when a cat loves you, you know it's because you've earned it. And that makes all the difference in the world

Cats can love you like crazy. That website was obviously not from someone who's lived with them and cared for them. They get EXTREMELY attached to their humans, are picky about WHICH humans they will deign to provide affection to, and can get VERY depressed and upset if deprived of them (i.e. you go on a trip.) Cats have largely the same emotions we do -- love, happiness, contentment, fear, anxiety, worry, sadness/grief, depression, etc. Some of them will even try to protect you if they think you're being threatened in some way.
YES, cats can love you! Very much!

Yes, a lot of people say animals can't feel emotions such as love, but they must have never had any loving pets. If you love and respect them, they give it right back, and show it in their own way. Unfortunately, even for some if you don't love adn respect the, they still love you :( Cats for example bring you dead animals they caught just for you! Thats just one way though. John tesh actually had a segment about this. Made me feel good because my pets show me love all the time.

Here's an example of feline love;
I was sick with the flu about a year ago. My cat, who does not like close physical contact, stayed on the bed with me the whole day until I started feeling better.
He was more loving than my husband, who, after being told that I felt really sick, smacked me on the butt and went off to work.

The problem with answering this question is in the definition of love. As humans we have various definitions of love Mothers love brotherly love the list goes on.
scientists have debated the existance of animal emotions for centuries startin with Aristotle and his predisessors. many beleived that emotions were strictly a human trait. today there are many who have studied animals and can not explain some behaviors as any thing other than emotions. though thay are strictly dangerous behaviors for wild animals emotions are natural to social interaction in humans. the web site you saw was just stating one side of the debate. look for other sites by typing in animal emotions and love in a search. you can find sites on both sides of the issue. then you can decide for your self.
Personally I believe the animal especially pets have an emotional attachment to their caregivers. What we, humans, call love.

Nonesense. The love in their eyes and manner is SO totally obvious. Mine holds paws with me! Now, I understand that a house cat, if abandoned outside and unable to find it's beloved owner, will revert to a feral state after a while.

That is a great question. I know that my dog is all sad when I leave, and is excited when I come home, but is not when my dad leaves and comes home. Does this mean my dog loves me, and not my dad? I like to think so. I think that some animals love everybody, and some love nobody at all. Weather animals have those emotions have many contradictory answers, but this is my oppinion.
