That's a hard question to answer, because they are many different reasons why a computer could crash, and many different solutions. Does it just crash, and works OK when you reboot it? Does it crash, and you're not able to boot the OS anymore? Just all depends.
Things like antivirus, antispyware, and firewalls always help. If the OS won't properly boot, you could use a search engine on another computer to look up "last known good configuration", "safe mode", and "system restore" (If you have a windows computer).

Get Microsoft defender. If it does crash, turn the computer off (I mean actually cut off the power), and reboot in Safe mode. If you are running XP, then go to System Restore and restore it to the last point before the virus was encountered.

It would be really helpful to know what kind of computer and what you are running on it,, like XP Windows 98 etc,, you can email me by clicking on my profile.
Most computers have recovery cd's with them, unless its a Compaq then you need to create your own recovery cd's on CD-RW in case of a crash,, more info and maybe I can help you out.
also there is a great little free download called Crap Cleaner,, www.ccleaner.com that fixes registry issues as well as cleans useless crap files out of your hard drive.

do a regular defragmentation of the hard drive and regular virus scans on the computer. plus if a disk crashes you might as well get ready to go to the checkbook,....it costs alot less to replace a drive than it does to repair a crashed one. hope i was of help.

Before it crashes, smash it to pieces with a big sledge hammer, that way, you win, and the computer doesn't get one over on you by crashing whilst trying to download web sites.
Alternatively, stop logging on to all those dodgy porn sites.

Probably too much stuff running in the background, go into Add/Remove programs in your Control Panel and delete stuff you don't use. Don't delete anything that looks like a system program, just bullsh-t stuff that you've downloaded that you don't want or use.
