It is a lot cheaper to buy online but would you really trust the online website that sell it so cheap cameras? I wouldn't because of what I hear from other people. Although I am from UK, the people always say that the online prices are so cheap so why should I buy from the shops, but when they buy it and if there is any problems with the cameras, it is really difficult to get them serviced or replaced unless it was bought from a recognised company online.

Also sometimes the online prices are cheaper because these online companies are based somewhere else where the taxes are much less as compared to US. So basically those cameras are imported and the warrenty won't be valid in US. So in case of problems, you have to send your camera to those other countries from where they were imported.

it is and isn't. Sometimes, yes, you will find a much better deal online, but it could be for a number of reasons. One being that the product is being shipped from another country and the warranty will no longer be valid once you receive the product. The main reason it isn't good to buy online is because if there are any problems with what you purchase, the return policy on these websites is not clearly stated and it often becomes very hard to return the product. Also, in some cases, such as E-Bay, it's hard to tell where the product is coming from. In some cases it could be "grey market". Honestly, it's much better to get it in store and know that what your getting not only is a good product (you can usually test the camera beforehand), but also that everything you should be receiving is there and not damaged.
