I'm 6'1" and weigh 160 lbs. Which Martial Art would be best suited for me to study? Any advice would be much appreciated.

Here's an old answer of mine that might help:

1. Get a sheet of paper and write down exactly what kinds of benefits you wish to obtain from studying karate/martial arts. It's a good idea to know exactly what you want to achieve.

2. Go to www.smartpages.com and look up MARTIAL ARTS INSTRUCTION in you city and state. It will tell you what martial arts are taught in your area and where the schools are located.

3. Once you know what martial arts are offered in your area look up their definitions on the net. Note the similarities and differences between each. A good place to do that is www.wikipedia.com.

4. Visit the schools in your area. Ask for a free class. Make sure you find a Master Instructor who is overseen by a larger governing body. For example: Many Tae Kwon Do schools belong to the World Tae Kwon Do Federation. Verify your instructor's credentials.

Some Martial Arts:

Tae Kwon Do and Karate will provide you with a great cardiovascular workout. They will also tone you. For the best results go to class around 4-5 days per week and at least 20-30 minutes a day at home to practice your moves.
Koei Kan and Isshin Ryu are two good styles of karate. You can also look up Kenpo.

Krav Maga, an Israeli style of self defense, is a superb physical workout. Around 4-5 days of Krav with transform your body. I've watched it happen. Fair warning! The workouts are intense! Take a look at Jennifer Lopez in the movie Enough. She's doing Karv Maga.

Ok seriously, all these are leit answers.. tae kwon do would give you flexibility descipline and speed, capoeria is a nice dance fighting system... gets you in shape flexible and agile. jeet kun do noone on this earth is licensed to teach(read about it). Personally, I recomend Muay Thai. Traditional Muay thai fighters are lanky and they rarely exceed 160 pounds so you have a good frame for it. Plus with modern Thai Boxing it's not as dangerous as the traditional Muay Thai and it teaches you strikes that are competent both on the street and in the Ring. Also Brazilian Jiu Jitsu is great for any person of any build to learn how to grapple and against a non-trianed assailant, it is likely the most powerful martial art known to man, allowing you to subdue and submit if not severely damage an oponent in a very short amount of time and yet it can be practiced in a very safe padded environment with a very low occurence of injuries during practice. So make your choice. I recomned those two arts, but I am very partial to Mixed Martial Arts combat since i'm training for it. Good Luck.

You're doing it backwards. Why pick an art, THEN go get disappointed when it's not available to you? Look around your area, and find out what GOOD schools are near you. Then decide on what STYLE you prefer (striking, grappling, martial, sport, etc.).

Then ask for advice on which to go for. As it stands now, this is a pointless question.

Al arts are different and people want different things from their training.

Practicle self defence = Karate, Aikido, Judo,

Winning tournements = Kung-fu, Tae-Kwon-Do, Judo, Mui-tai

Just for fun and excercise = Capoeira, Tai-Chi

I agree with Stratocastin.

I personally would say your body frame fit Muay Thai better. Plus your height will give you massive advantage since you have long legs and arms to keep opponent at range and it will hurt like hell if you knee someone because of your height.
