If they're already in the house, you'll need to use one of those "bug bombs". Set one off in each room of the house and leave for several hours. To keep the fleas off the dog for good, get Advantage from your local Vet. You apply it directly to a small patch of skin on your dog, and fleas will no longer jump on him!! It works wonders on dogs and cats.

Advantage and Frontline are the two best products out there for fleas on dogs and cats. It is important to spray the environment for fleas as well. An exterminator or a fogger for the inside the house, you may need to repeat treat in 2 weeks after the eggs have hatched. Don't forget the yard too! An exterminator or a yard spray is available through a place that sells gardening supplies.

Go to the vet and buy the monthly treatment, like Frontline or Advantage. Use it every month. The vet should also sell the carpet/upholstry spray to kill all 4 stages of the flea. Remember, the eggs can lie dormant for months and vibrations such as moving furniture or vacuuming can cause them to hatch, so just treating your pet once isn't enough. When you use the carpet/upholstry cleaner, also wash any bedding, use it all at once, and cover every square inch of your place (yes you have to move the furniture). For your yard, it's best to contact a professional pest control company if you have that bad of a problem. If that's too much $$, over the counter lawn & garden treatments should work if used properly.
Remember, to work this all has to be done in a short period of time to prevent any survival of the fleas. Don't let them escape your wrath!
I learned the hard way if we'd just treated our dog in the first place we wouldn't have had fleas everywhere else.

Okay, this is going to sound odd, but it works phenomenally!
My mother, on the recommendation of our vet, fed our dog a tablespoonful of brewer's yeast in her food every day. It got rid of her fleas and she never had them again. Besides, it is quite nutritious. I know, it sounds lame. I am not one to buy into herbal and homeopathic remedies very readily, but I absolutely swear by this one.
Also, if there are fleas on your dog there are fleas in your house. You will have to bomb the house twice, once to kill the adult fleas and two weeks later to kill the fleas that were eggs the last time you bombed. Products that say they kill the eggs do not. Bomb twice.
Unfortunately, if your dog shares a space like a dog run, kennel, play area etc. with other dogs, you are out of luck. Nothing I or anyone else here has mentioned will stop your dog from getting fleas from the other dogs.

After a good shampoo, you can apply an oil special for fleas, just a few drops along the dogs body. I don't know the name of it.
And if the problem is to big, you might need also to fumigate (with a professional help) the places where the dog uses to be.

you need to not only rid the dog of fleas, but all surrounding areas.
if your home is carpeted, there will be eggs in the carpet - no matter how much you vacuum. get a spray that also kills the eggs. If you have other pets, they need to be taken care of. any bedding, furniture, etc. i have used several products at once....one for dog, one for cats, one for furniture, etc. And the process needs to be repeated as recommended due to the fact that whenever the dog goes outside, he might pick up more fleas.
Good Luck

Go to your vet or pet store and buy a pill called capstar, give it to your dog and in about 15-20 minutes it kills all the living fleas on your dog, then bathe him with a medicated flea shampoo then give him a dose of frontline, or advantix, both will help with fleas and ticks!

I use frontline on my dogs and the fleas don't even get on my dogs. It destroys their larva as well. Also, you might want the use flea bombs in your house. You need to break the breading cycle. Once this is done keep the frontline on your pets. You wont have any more problems.

Go to the vet and get Advantage. You may not even need to see a vet for it.
Also, once you start the dog on Advantage, vacuum all your carpets and furniture every day for a week. Theoretically that should do the trick without having to flea bomb your house.

Well, it's comlicated.
First you have to go to the courthouse and file for an eviction. Then you have to send a certified letter, then show proof the flease got the letter, then request a hearing with the magistrates office, then have the sherrifs office present when you preform the eviction.
Geesh, it's a real headache! Stupid deadbeat fleas!
