Even Ronald Reagan, a man I consider the best president we have had since JFK, said "It's still trust but verify" If you have to verify, that means you DO NOT BLINDLY TRUST the governemnt.

Unfortunately, the general populace's lack of interest in politics, its complete apathy, failure to vote, to find out what is really going on in this country, has lead to the intolerable situation we find ourselves in right now.

I'm sure that not every public official is a bad person; the law of probability alone does not allow it. However, the average American citizen does not know much about his/her local and national officials, the pressing issues of the day, laws, etc.

Therefore, we now take what we are told at face value, do not question anything for fear of bashing/retribution, and accept what the press and politicians tells us - the webs of lies craftly spun to keep us ignorant, in the name of "National Security". The abuse of power is blatant and appalling.

Not only are we at war, but foreign countries have bought much of our important domestic assets, our privacy is basically non-existant, we are denounced as traitors if we dare question laws such as the Patriot Act, our phones are being tapped, our e-mail messages and regular mail read, etc.

It is terrible, scary, and indecent. Our country was founded precisely because our forefathers decried the intrusion of their mother country into their personal affairs. How ironic then, that those who now try to preserve those Unalienable Rights, the same ones safeguarded and preserved with the blood of countless men, women, and children throughout our history, we are denounced as anti-American and told that if we don't like it, we should leave.

The signers of the Declaration of Independence must be rolling over in their graves. What a tragedy. It makes me very sad.

It would take a sign on every gas pump that simply said 'We Don't Give A Sh** About You.......this message brought to you by The United States Government' Along with a $5 a gallon gas price. High gas prices seem to be the only thing that gets the average not-so-bright American pissed-off enough to moan a little about the government.

You can only trust in God and His work.
Government is man made, man desires to kill our planet with our lifestyles. The government is a needle in the haystack.
The first step is to change yourself and how you think, this may rub off on others

I trust my husband of 33 years but I keep my eyes open anyway.
I treat the government the same way, I trust them until they give me a reason not too.(like Clinton)

I don't believe any American has ever fully trusted any government. Thus the creation of the 2ND amendment.

I think that most people realise the governments can and do lie. Presidents do likewise.... Nixon, bush Snr, Clinton - they were all caught out lying.
