a better thing, perhaps, would be to work on your balance by holding on lightly to a chair or a wall and standing on one leg. Then when you can do that for a couple of minutes, then let go of the chair and balance. then close your eyes and do that. its hard. Also Tai Chi is good for balance and coordination(not the martial arts tai chi like wu or chen style)

Ballroom dancing is an excellent way of dealing with body coordination on the dancefloor (and off it). Precision in footwork, correct stance, etc. are basic elements of ballroom dancing. Salsa is always helpful when you want to spice up your movement and make it flow more. But bottom line is that you choose a dance style that you like, whatever that is, and try to stick to it.
I will warn you that since you claim you're sort of clumsy and don't really dance, it will probably be difficult at first, especially if you're a guy (leading usually puts a strain on beginners and they're more likely to give up). The secret is to have faith in yourself and stick to it. You'll be better in no time.
Good luck.

They might help and if they don't they could still be really fun! Ballroom dancing is really hot right now, and so is salsa. If you don't have a partner, you could always try some line dancing. A lot of clubs have free classes before their busy time.
