libidos vary over days, months and years without any obvious reasons

You are just lucky I guess. It could be that because you don't have a boyfriend just now, to satisfy your needs, your urges have grown.
Although masturbation is fun, it's not as fulfilling as sex with your partner, and so you need to do it more, for the same amount of pleasure.

If you were use to doin it, it could just be deprevation. Masterbation is also a good way to releive stress. I went thru it a while back, it will ease up. Until then - get you a good toy & lots of spare batteries. ;)
