Most definitely!
Though I think depression is more a symptom then a cause.
People deal with stress differently depending on their make-up. Enough stress and anyone can have a breakdown. And people who are depressed can have a breakdown.
By the way- what exactly are you considering is a "breakdown". I'm guessing we're talking about the same thing- but I'm not sure. It would help to clarify what you're looking for.

Most definitely. Happened to me 7+ years ago. Had a nervous breakdown of built up stress, depression disappointment.
Unfortunately,it took a wrong turn and I have suffered from agoraphobia, panic attacks, etc since.
I wish you the best

Yes - these are the major causes of "nervous breakdowns." My mother had one and it scared me to death - and I've had minor ones.
