I think your perspective of what a Christian is is a little warped. The fact that you want to do better is evidence of your heart. While we strive for perfection.. we must also realize that no matter how long we live, we will NEVER achieve it. In the Bible, Paul says that he does things he doesn't want to do and doesn't do those things he knows he should. I'm certainly no better than Paul. I screw up ALL the time, but God knows that I love Him.

Plus... in Romans it tells us that if you confess with your mouth, "Jesus is Lord," and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved. That's all it takes. And that's what He wants.

I think you've been led to believe that all Christians do not spoke, drink or party which is where part of the problem lies. I'm a Christian - I have been since I was 11 (I'm now almost 30). I also went to school for hospitality and out of every college and university program throughout the world, hospitality students ARE THE BIGGEST PARTIERS! I don't smoke but that's because I have asthma but I'm a Wine Consultant so I definitely drink. Being a Christian means you have a personal relationship with God and Jesus and the Holy Spirit. You can still have that and drink and smoke. The idea is that you worship God, not the tobacoo or the booze, and as long as you keep it like that (i.e. know your limits and not get drunk), you're fine. Incidentally, what do you think they were drinking at the last supper? It wasn't just straight grape juice like some churches give in communion - it was wine.

If you really want to quit drinking, smoking and partying than go right ahead but make sure it's for the right reasons. If you're serious, pray to God and he'll help you.

It is commendable that you understand this considering that many people try to justify their wrong doings. Being a Christian is a way of life, not a title. Understand that doing those won't keep you from obtaining the Kingdom of God, however, practicing those things will
(1 Corinthians 6:9-11) The latter part of that verse, tells us that we should take action in correcting our habits. The Apostle Paul had a "war" between in his soul-wanting to bad and good at the same time.

So, pray to your heavenly father and ask him for wisdom and discernment. You can't ask him to stop what you're doing, but you can ask him to for strength to stop what you're doing. Also, change your associates. Bad association, spoils useful habits.
Try to be around people that apply bible principles, and not just say they do.

Keep it up!

Start with the basic question: Why do you want to _say_ you are a Christian? If you _really_ do want to say (and really mean) it, then being a member of organized Christianity should help you accomplish wnat you want and need to do (stopping these self-destructive habits). If it doesn't do that (in a reasonable amount of time) you've got to question if being a Christian is really good for you anyway.

Christianity isn't about being good; it's about God's grace. If we had to earn our way to God by good works, no one would ever make it, because all of us have blown it at some time in our lives.

It sounds like God is convicting you. Ask Him to work in you to remove these habits. It may take time; it might happen overnight, but eventually they will become a thing of the past.

I also suggest teaming up with a friend or mentor you can trust to hold you accountable for your behavior and pray for you.

It is okay but take it easy i know it is hard but just because you mess up here and there don't make you a bad person just try to cut back on those things
i mean don't completely get rid of it but cut back and if you are having sex before marriage than that makes you not so christian like so take that out of your life completely and ask the lord to forgive you and spend more time at chruch than the club

The defining quality of a Christian is one who treats people and animals with respect. Jesus did that and that's what you need to do to be a Christian.

Well that's a start......You want change.....If you believe in God and believe Jesus died for your sins and was raised from the dead then you are saved!! All you have to do is pray and ask God to help you be more christ like and slowly but surely you will change.....the enemy will be angry with this so he will tempt you to do what you once did....but God said resist the devil and he will flee from you....so just depend on God and fellowship with him in prayer and you will be alright!
