I am looking for bridesmaids dresses without having to pay an arm and a leg for them. How did you find yours? And did you order them for the girls or let them be responsible for it themselves?

I will be a bride's maid in two weddings next year. Both Brides have chosen David's Bridal for their wedding dress/ bride's maid dresses. As far as financial responsibility, it depends on the financial strength of the couple getting married. If you can afford to pay for the bride's maid dresses..then do it. If not, set a budget and the bride's maid's can purchase their own. www.davidsbridal.com, they have a nice/affordable selection.

go to an outlet. You can always find something there. If you do go to an outlet, take everyone so they can get the dresses at the same time and you know they will all match.

If you are able to pay for your bridesmaids dresses then do, but if you can't afford that, make sure your bridesmaids now to pay for their own.

My bridesmaid dresses came from the shop where I got my dress. They had to order what I needed. It took about 6 weeks for them to come in.

I found mine at a local bridal shop. They weren’t super cheap, but it was a good price for bridesmaid’s dresses (I think they were around $120). You could try looking in department stores’ formal departments, or just see if you can find out when sales will be at bridal stores. For example, David’s Bridal (http://www.davidsbridal.com ) is having a clearance right now until July 4th. Another option is looking at sites like eBay; sometimes they have new dresses, and it’s especially good if you want a certain color, for example, but don’t mind if they’re different styles. You could also try a website like this one (http://www.therosedress.com/dresses/dresses.html ) - the downside is that you won’t actually see the dresses until they’ve been bought, so it’s riskier as far as quality goes because you can’t actually check it out. As far as ordering the dresses, I gave the girls the information and they had to go into the store and get fitted and order them. I had to fill some stuff out when I picked them out so the order all went at once, but they were responsible for actually getting into the store and ordering their own dress. Good luck and congratulations!

The last two weddings that I helped plan, the bride chose the colour she wanted everyone to wear and then asked them to purchase a dress on their own. All of the dresses were bought off the rack at Laura's or other dress shops. If you want to pay for everyone's dresses that's fine. The other possibility is to find a pattern at a local sewing shop and then have them made. You can either pay for the fabric yourself or have the bridesmaids and the Maid of Honour pay for the fabric.

Hope that helps.

I would say it depends on how well you trust the people in your wedding party to be responsible for their dresses. My cousin picked her bridesmaids dresses from David's Bridal. They have fairly reasonable prices. Since my cousin did not know all her bridesmaids sizes, she simply showed them the type and color of dress she wanted them to have, and they went out and bought their dresses. I think she gave one of the sales representatives her list of bridesmaids, and frequently called the store and the bridesmaids to see if everything worked out. David's Bridal also has an excellent selection when it comes to full figured sizes. I don't know how big or small your bridesmaids are, but we have some big women in our family:) Hope I helped; good luck to you, and congrats!!

I bought mine at a prom site. My bridesmaids were relatively young (between 22 and 26) so the dresses were appropriate. I had four bridesmaids and while I chose the style and color, I let them order it.

Here's the website that I bought mine from:

I am letting all my bridesmaids wear their own black dresses for a fall wedding. As long as they are tastefull for a wedding, I did not care. I do not think that it is right to have the girls spend money for a dress that they are only going to wear once. Get them something that they are comfortable in and that they can wear again.

I went to a department store that sold prom and special occasion dresses and got them there. Only $80 per dress for the one I picked and less for some of the other styles. I live in Canada for I went to Sears. Maybe there is something like that where you are. Bridal shops will charge the most.

I am getting married in a little over a year, and I'm getting my dress and the bridesmaids dresses form Alfred Angelo. They have all sorts of price range choices, and the cheap ones don't look cheap! Good luck, and congrats.

I found the dresses I wanted at JC Penny they were 99.00 & the day we ordered they were 25% off so we only ended up spending 75.00 a dress and they were so cute and all the gyrls who were in my wedding (10) paid for their own dress shoes and accessories I just paid for the flowers. Whats good about JC Penny is that if someone is unable to come out after u ordered the dress they just cancled the order
