To satisfy his ego that there has to be someone who created it all and it would have to be someone humanlike. Is it just that they use faith to give them hope there is something beyond death. I donot say religion has no contribution. It has brought people together as brothers to create this world we live in today. It would be impossible if we were not "organised". But does that really prove the existence of god or just the character of disciplined, organised action?

So many people, believers and nonbelievers, operate under the false assumption that GOD is a humanoid just because of that "In his image" line in the Bible. Falling into the same pitfall, there are also those that took one step away from this erroneous misconception that believe that GOD is some kind of spirit being that is still capable of functioning like a person in various respects. Both of these philosophies are wrong.

GOD isn't a man. GOD isn't humanoid. GOD isn't even sentient. GOD as you know him is a metaphoric representation of something that is extremely important to the Human condition. He represents perhaps the single most important force acting on humanity, Earth, and the Universe we live in. The authors of the Bible used this metaphoric language to describe GOD and various other phenomena because it sounds a lot more interesting that the regular ol' ordinary language, and, quite frankly, science was almost nonexistent back then so a lot of the words required to describe these occurrences did not exist.

You might not believe this now, but someday, you will.

Well. it goes both way.

GOD CREATED MAN FIRST: so that means that God created man to his image.

MAN CREATED A GOD TO HIS IMAGE: so that he can feel secure that what he does will not condemn him. everyone knows that at some point in time the things they do are wrong, so they chose a safe god that allows them to to all the things they want and still feel satisfied. Many have created their own religions, like SCIENTOLOGY, that is based on almost the same foundation as every other religion, we all have a created, and someone we pray to, however, some have decided to create this God to their image so that they don't have to abide by morality.

Being a Pagan, I have an answer for this one. I believe that man created god in his image. It's just our way of being able to identify with the great unknown force that gives life to the universe. after all, has any god ever given an interview on Nightline??

I think people created GOD in the image of themselves. Simply because there are so many different names and images of GOD. Every culture views GOD in a different way. Some cultures even worship animals. Some cultures worship many GODS. No one knows who or what GOD is truly about.

God created man in his image. It says in the Bible that God breathed life into Adam, giving him qualities to reveal God's holiness. Someone once told me that the best way to see God's glory is not to look at the highest mountain or most beautiful sunset, but to look at a human instead.

There is a saying, if cows could draw their God, it would most likely look like a cow. God is beyond the images man perceives and associates with the Most High.

Man created god in his image to keep order in civilization and bring about order. Unfortunately man has gone too far with God by forcing him on to others and preaching outdated morals to a modern world.

Man created god. Religion is a destructive force in this world, not a creative one. People are more than capable of organizing themselves without it.
