He is not a spirit God is the supreme being.
He is the Father God and the Son, Jesus which most pepel refer to when saying He.
And He is the Holy Spirit which is the spirit part of things.

Right God is Formless and genderless. We live in a patriarch society so that is why we call God as a "He". Rather God should be viewed as both He and She. If God were vieweds as a He, then Divine Mother would be viewed as the other half, female aspect of God.

In English the correct way to refer to God is Who, with a capitol W. Referring to God as He or Him is a misleading mistake made by George Wycliffe several hundred years ago in translating the Bible to the Kings James Version. In primitive languages such as Greek, Latin and its derivatives the language is constrained to make the pronoun male, female or neuter gender. Protestants often referred to God as Which, which is also misleading since which refers to objects. Therefore due to the misleading English translation God has been referred to as He or Him in English for the past several hundred years. Even Christians who say God is the Trinity ignorantly refer to God as He or Him in English in a contradictory manner! In the old testament God apparently spoke the words to Moses eyah asher eyah, I Am Who Am, one of the very few times God literally told a human Who God Is..

The God that most of the free world believe in comes from the Hebrews. The Hebrews were a very patriarchal society , so naturally, God would be considered a 'Father' figure therefore a 'He'.

Gender in language and gender in real life are not necessarily related: the German for "maiden", for example, is neuter! Spaying a ***** does not transform her into "IT".
God is called by the pronoun "HE" as opposed to "IT" because God is perceived to have consciousness and will -- whereas things most often associated with the pronoun "IT" are regarded normally as lacking consciousness or will. This has changed somewhat in modern thinking because of automation: an advanced computer may seem to be in a grey area, an "IT" than thinks. Why God is called "HE" instead of "SHE" testifies of our (and most) human cultures.

It lies within the Proto Indo European god system, upon which Christianity and Judism is based, where the most powerful gods were male sun/sky gods. The Christian god is always aligned with light and the sun and sky.

It is more accurate to call God an it.... IT is a reflection of nature... and nature is equally male and female.
