Didn't christianity disprove itself way back when "THIS GENERATION" came to pass and the alleged messiah mysteriously failed to reappear?

No, the "this generation" that Jesus refers to (if I'm on the same page as you) the one that sees the fig tree bud, is the generation that sees the return of Israel to the Holy Land. Going by this prophecy, we don't have long before the rise of the Anti-Christ. Wait another 30 years then ask your question again.

theoretically, but then you get the christian song and dance about how a generation means thousands of years...and stuff that was promised before all those people died really meant something else also.

no one knows when jesus is goin to reapear it never sed in"this generation" you need to read your bible more.
