Drowning is a horrible way to die! First you hold your breath for as long as you can. Then after a few minutes, your body's reflexes force you to take a breath. Water then shoots down into your lungs. You feel the pain of the salt water going down the wrong pipe. Your body starts to violently shake as it involuntary panics. Finally you loose consciousness.

This brings up some issues that when the bible was written that it would seem reasonable to the people of that time. If they wrote that god merely "blinked" the bad people out of existence, those people might have dismissed the story. Yet when you add the component of a vengeful god, the people are scared not to believe as they are told. It is too much to ask to believe in a god that has the grace to create billions and billions of galaxies, yet, he resorts to barbaric and tortuous death for a few hundred million humans.

Knowledgeable people are well aware that Genesis 1 through 11 is NOT scientific or historical but largely mythical, metaphorical, poetic, theological, and moral. All people are not knowledgeable, however. Recent Gallup surveys reveal that 50 percent of adult Americans believe that Adam and Eve existed, 44 percent believe the earth was created directly by God only ten thousand years ago, and 40 percent believe that the Bible is inerrant. No doubt an equally high percentage believe in Noah's ark.

It seems odd that an atheist would use the bible to question if the Creator is man-made.
Are you skeptical in the existence of a Creator? A dogmatic atheist is fundamentally no different than the dogmatic theist. Both have a need to force conformity on a number of ideas.

neo_darwin is right...He died for your sins!!! For all of our sins! There were reasons why Noah did not drown... God is God, if you do not want to accept Jesus as your Lord and Savior and be saved, you do not have to...you have a choice!!!...some God rejecting people are whining about the storms to be God's fault...If they do not believe in God, why blame Him. We cannot rely on our own understanding

He sure allows a lot of sorrow, but He has promised us a gift of eternal life through Jesus Christ. We do not have to be scared of Him, we want to follow Him. Bible says many hundred times "Fear not". Jesus Christ is a gentle leader. God could force you to believe Him and obey Him out of fear. But He gave us free will. He loves you so much that He gave His only Son that you -YOU- do not have to be dead after your death! All of us will leave some day, when that time comes to me, I want to be with God forever!!! If you do not want to be with God, go to hell then...your choice, not God's...

The bible is a book of mythology. And, like all good works of fiction, had to include graphic violence and sex or people wouldn't have read it.

It is truly amazing that otherwise intelligent people consider it anything more than what it is, a book of fiction written to amuse (or frighten) the masses (sheep).

Flooding is obviously the most humane way to die, otherwise "God"(sp?) wouldn't have made the whole world die in that manner. Didn't you see the aftermath of hurricane Katrina. Did that not look humane to you?
