I read it. The book was more manufactured than the idea of Global Warming is. I enjoyed the book in the beginning till the 'things' began preying on animals and humans and taking over the human bodies. It just was not as exciting as Micheal Crichton's books are.
I believe Global warming is a real threat. I am 25 years and I have witnessed the change in weather over the years, I did not read that from a science data. It has become hotter over the years and there have become drastic changes in weather patterns.
In my country, we used to have harmattan seasons which used to be the closest we came to having a cold season and that has all but disappeared over the years. So I do believe something is happening that is changing the weather. It may not be deemed Global Warming by everyone but the atmosphere definately is being altered.

To be honest, I feel that global warming is real and is a threat, and we must act upon it ASAP. However, the attitude of the majority of people in the world don't feel the urgency of this matter. It seems that we only act after something bad occurs, or when it is too late. The only time that we ever act is when we get a devastating "wake-up call", and sometimes, even after something like that happens, nothing is done to prevent that event from happening again.
And shqiptare, in response to your comment, the ozone layer has very little to do with global warming. The deterioration of the ozone layer is caused by chemicals such as CFCs. Global warming occurs because of the high pollution rates the massive industries are putting out. Carbon dioxide is a Greenhouse Gas, which means that it traps heat in the atmosphere. Heat that would bounce off Earth and enter into outer space is just reflected back to Earth, warming it up. So, although the ozone is important to the survival and protection of humans and organisms all over Earth, it hardly contributes to Global Warming. Please do your research.

Check out organizations like Greenpeace or The Nature Conservancy. Or do a web search on global warming.

Global warming is not a fact yet but most scientist agree upon it. of course 30 years ago most scientists agreed that by year 2000 we are going to have another ice age! study of weather of our globe is still much more inacurate and harder than most people think. I personally reserve my opinion untill somemore accurate technology will be invented to measure accuratly the overall tempreture of the globe. lets face the facts the suposedly couple of degrees increase in ocean water is within 15 percent error!

t would be nice to wish all this away and give learned quotes of big scientists proving that global warming is not an issue, but you guys are far away safe(for the moment)in your city apartments.
but in North Africa,India,Mexico ,China millions of people would have to disagree with you ,because their world has dried up
serious enough in china, thousands of what used to be farmers are running for their lives from the dust storms that have burried their towns and turned their lands into dessert, the globe where they were got to hot for them .
and instead of producing food they are now needing it from some where else, and they will drastically effect the world food prices when they start buying water in the form of grains ,at any cost destabalising governments, in some countries ,could be the result
(are you seeing more Chinese around interested in agricultural lands ,we do here in Mexico)
this was man made global warming because of over grazing and fertilizers, and they are not the only ones
collectively this planet is drying up ,the Sahara is growing by 7 kilometers a year
and all of the desserts we know are a results of mans actions ,and they are increasing ,not getting less ,in the dinosaurs days ,there were no desserts.
so as far as the food production is concerned Global warming or some of its effects are serious, rising seas result in landloss
each degree rise in temperature means 10%crop loss
more landloss because of desertification every year,we have less areble land to produce food ,for an extra 70 million people ,
and there is less and less water (because of deforestation),to irrigate this production ,
and there are less and less farmers to do it..
who are plowing more and more unstable lands because they have lost so many million hectares to desertification ,
because of bad farming practises ,such as using fertilizers and heavy machinary or over grazing
Global warming is in theory reversable, but it will mean global co operation between all countries ,and taking into account human nature and the world politics ,it is unlikely that this will happen,
At least not untill we are all in the middle of planetary disastres and it becomes a battle for the survival of humanity every where.
SOLUTIONS
if you want to help the planet ,plant a tree every week ,if everyone on the planet did we we would be able to reverse the destructive processes
reduce carbon emisions, and they are already working on that by alternative forms of energy and regulations on carbon producing materials, aerosol cans, burning rubbish, industrial chimneys, powerplants etc.
the capture of carbon and the production of water and assist the aquiferous manta.
the world bank pays large subsidies for reforrestation to capture carbon and the best tree for this is the Pawlonia
Waterharvesting projects ,such as millions of small dams.to redirect over ground waterflows from the rains into the ground to supply subteranian water supplies.
the protection of existing forrests.
stop building more highways, urban planning to include vegetation stop building cities encourage people to return to the land to conduct their business from there which now has become possible thanks to the internet.
education to motivate people to auto sufficiency by building more home food gardens.
education on environmental awareness
Agricultural education and improvements to follow the principals or sustainability and soil management.
more environmental or land ,design to prevent bush fires, such as--fire breaks
,more dams.regulations and control for public behaviour
alternative effeciant public transport to discourage the use of the internal conbustion engine
recicling wastes,limit water use
