Interesting. Had to go back to look up the true definition of agnostic. Makes sense in the Yahoo dictionary definition #2 but lacks any relevance in definition #1. Since most people tend to link agnosticism with religion....

1a) One who believes that it is impossible to know whether there is a God.
1b) One who is skeptical about the existence of God but does not profess true atheism.
2) One who is doubtful or noncommittal about something.

I'd have to say back to the drawing board.

If it is a quote, then I think it was made by someone that doesn't know the meaning of the word. They believe that it is possible that something exists, but in no way would it be as cruel or needy as god is. If god exists, to the agnostics, it would not want to be treated as an idol.

This one universe we live in, is an infinite ocean of energy. This one, infinite energy, is eternally creating all forms visible and invisible.

All these forms, whether mineral, plant or animal - and their infinite sub-divisions - are at various stages of evolution from cradle (coming into existence),to the grave (going out of existence)

It is to be expected therefore, there'll inevitably be, not only atheists but also agnostics.

So howcum "Agnostics, just make up your mind"?

Peace,

Why is believing but choosing not to have any specific instituted religion a bad thing?I think that the churches are the ones responsible for turning many Agnostic. Some people are tired of the various churches political stances and sermons. They just want their own relationship with God and are happy with it.

And that is what I think of that quote.Or, at least, what comes to mind when someone says that.

I prefer this quote
I do not consider it an insult, but rather a compliment to be called an agnostic. I do not pretend to know where many ignorant men are sure- that is all that agnosticism means

Agnostic means 'lack of knowledge', not 'I'm not sure.' If you don;t know something for sure, agnostics argue, then you shouldn't claim it to be true. So I think that quote is rubbish.

How is being an Agnostic indicative of failure to make up your mind?

An open invitation for people to make a decision and stop straddling the fence. One way or another - we all must choose up sides - there is no one on the team stuck in the middle. You're either on the winning side - or the loosing side.

I think whoever came up with that is using the pop culture definition of "agnostic".

An ignorant answer from someone with a closed mind.

Agnostics have their own beliefs and should not be looked down upon just for believing in something other than the popular belief.
