try costco. I am a profssional photographer and have had excellent results from that lab. If you want to spend more money there are custom labs out there. I know of NCL in Roselle NJ that is considered to be one of the best in the country. However you will pay thru the nose for having your prints processed there.
You can find NCL (national color labs) on the web if you do a yahoo search for them.
good luck

Wait til you get the Mac, then buy Photoshop (Elements 4 for Mac will probably do for a while. Then you can trade up if you need to. CS3 is the current "pro" version. But it's pricey!). I've been running CS for several years and also have Elements 4. I've always loved my Epson printers. The 3800 is my current favorite, although I don't have it yet! For anything larger than that, use a good lab to do your printing. Doing it yourself can become very expensive. I use either a local printer who has an Epson 9600 or a lab in New Jersey (El-Co Color) that does amazingly good posters (20x30) for $9.95. But if you want creative control of the entire process, it's good to do your own prints. The quality and longevity of today's printers is such that you will be able to make images that will last way beyond the time when you'll even be around to care. The sooner you get away from the PC and over to the Mac, the better off you'll be. The TCO (Total Cost of Ownership) comparison between Macs and anything that runs Windows is simply too good to ignore. My oldest Mac has been running for 8 years and refuses to quit! And I mean all the time, every day. Making the switch will be so easy you'll wonder why you waited so long. It's simple: when using a Mac, think like a human being NOT like a computer. You'll see what I mean when you get there. Good Luck!

From the sounds of it you are looking for a digital lab, not a quick print.
I use a company called TPI Photo (www.tpiphoto.com) to handle all of my digital prints. They have a wide variety of options and can go all the way up to 20 x 30. The use an online remote orering software called ROES. It's a great program and is quick. Their prices are very good also.

I want to tell u as a photographer my self, the only way to get the photo's U what, Get a good High Quality Printer and download, the photo's to your computer and a software program, Called:
{ Corel Photo Center } with this program U will be able to crop, take red eye out,frames ETC. ETC. ETC. This program will really surprise U on what all U can do with it will take a little while to learn how to learn the program, But, well worth it. this way U can get just what U want of a photo. The program isn't real cheap nor is the printer, the paper U put the photo is pretty cheap However get a high gloss paper.and ~ always ~ use Kodak paper . other wise U can take them to Wal-Mart
~~ ~~~ They do OK with there printing. They also have a machine that U can play with and do your on with.
~~~~~~~~It's alot like this software I am telling U about
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~`~~~~~~~~~~~Best of luck to ya

If you're looking for good quality snapshot photos, try Walgreens. They're inexpensive, good quality, and very quick.
For high-end printing, try www.Pictopia.com. They have done excellent work for me. Also try www.EZPrints.com or www.MyPhotoPipe.com.

Walmart is the only place I've used and they always turn out great. It seems like the store with everything wouldn't have great quality in a specialized area such as developing photos, but they do.
I've heard that Walgreen's (that one pharmacy place) develops pictures too, dunno if they're any good.
