Great quote, but you'll get a lot of crap for it. Some folks will call you 'atheist' even though you could be an agnostic or simply an openminded Christian who doesn't arrogantly believe he has all the answers.
One of your fans answered that parent wouldn't be able to punish children by that logic, but of course punishment is not the issue either since according to Christian mythology God NEVER punishes, he only sits back and watches people suffering due to their own actions. Not very plausible if you think about Sodom and Gommorra, is it. He sure did punish those folks...pretty mean for a guy who says that we all have free will...

When you enter a school, college, organization or anything, don't they give you rules ? And if you break those rules aren't you punished ? do you blame the school for what you have done ?
Then why do you think God has sent down all his religions ? They are rules of life and its a way of living peacefully. Therefor how can God be held responsible for these mistakes unless he has not taught us the right way.
But since we are taught what we should and shouldn't do then he is punishing us for our own mistakes. And anyway god forgives, he doesn't punish people day and night, He has given us our whole lives to learn and repent. It is only on the day you die and the day of Resurrection that each person will be held account for his deeds.
There for god is only fair that he has told us every thing, and given us our whole lives to improve ourselves and be better people.

God gave us the gift of Free Agency, We either punish ourselves by not making the right choices, our we suffer because of poor decisions of others. There are certain laws made by God that even he abides by. Even death is a law that we all will face. But if we make good, righteous choices, God will have mercy on us in the next life. We can't blame God for all the pain and suffering and punishment in the world. We have to take some responsibility for our decisions.

In 1999 there was a life-changing earthquake where I lived. It killed 17,000 people. Many people I know started to turn their backs from God. Now, as an atheist for more than half of my life, you might think that I'd encourage this, but actually I didn't. I know a lot of people who 'walked away from God' out of anger or spite. This is no kind of belief system. For me, abandoning God was an action of love and respect - for the human race.
This comment still works within the logic of theism. It's like a child rebelling against his father. Either this person will revert to theism, or he will fill his 'God-shaped hole' with a love for mankind. I would hope for the latter, but I wish him luck whichever way he turns.

God wanted people not only that He could love but who would love him back. True love involves a choice. If we love God only because he made us do it and we didn't have any choice then we are nothing more than robots. Robots do only what they are programmed to do and are incapable of loving relationships.
Therefore, to create a loving relationship with Him God must give us a choice love Him or reject Him. When we reject Him, that's when the "stupidities" start, OUR choices. John 3:16 states that it is God's will that ALL people come to this relationship with Him through His son Jesus. God does all He can to bring us back to him because He loves us so much, but sometimes that process is unpleasant.
CHOICE- that's what God has given to us.

I think you should read your bible more. He is not here because he is waiting on numerous people to realize he is GOD and that there is nothing they can do about it. There's no hiding from GOD. He is everywhere, he knows everything, hes waiting on people like you. He wants the best for you and me but you can't get that blessing if you are questioning him and his great works. Some questions were not meant to be answered. And who are you to question the great almighty GOD. He is not responsible for nothing you do. You are responsible. He is just there helping you when you fall. He is just waiting until everyone who is going to heaven has fulfilled there purpose here on earth.

that's an awesome quote.
yes, MNL_1221, and why does a child need to be punished? a child is born innocent with no sins at all. if nobody tries to change that innocence, then the child will grow up innocent. i seen my sister grow up. she's four now and has the biggest ego i ever seen anyone ever have. a child is born selfless. the ego is given to him by the people around him. and who has my sister spent most of her time with? her parents. and therefore who has given her an ego? her parents. and now theyre gettin mad at her all the time. were they gettin mad at her, when she was just born and therefore selfless? no. religion is just something to calm down the stupidity of your ego, nothing more. if you dont have an ego, you dont need god. if nobody had an ego, nobody would ever feel the need to punish anybody. if everybody was selfless, countries wouldnt exist; all borders would disappear. god's not responsible for anything. YOU are responsible for everything that happens to you. if your life is miserable, your responsible for it, nobody else.

No need to bash this person, this individual just needs a little insight on who God truly is...God gave all of us on earth this precious gift called the human "will" and unfortunately there are many humans present who use their "will" towards wrong doings. God is a very loving and merciful being...it's just unfortunate that He catches the heat for the wrongdoing of others here on EARTH. There is an old saying that goes something like this (my version), "You can lead one to the well but you can't make him drink." (Meditate on that)
Much Love to Each of you and especially to the one wrote this. I pray that they will one day know who God really is and what's He about.

If I were you I would be very careful what STUPID remarks I made concerning someone you obviously have no knowledge of"GOD" If you insist on continuing to BLASPHEME you might actually find out that He is real and to be reverenced/feared. You could actually wind up calling on Him.

With that logic, no parent could ever punish his/her child, since he/she is responsible for bringing that child into the world.
