the centerpiece of modern evangelical Christianity. It is the act of taking "Christ into your heart" and being "born again" -- usually occurring at an altar call at a (usually) emotional service -- it can function as a cathartic experience for some believers, giving them an emotional high that helps them believe that they have "changed." In fact, there are people who become junkies -- going forward again and again to pray the prayer and be "saved" at revival and similar services.
Those who believe in this experience usually are literalists (believe that the Bible is literally inspired by God) and use John 3:16 as their justifying scripture, regardless of the meaning it had to the ancient Jews.
That should give you an idea, I hope it was helpful.
Kind regards,
Reynolds Jones

Its a prayer that you pray to God that you accept him and that you know Jesus died on the cross for your sins, that you eat his flesh and drink his blood and you want to go to Heaven and walk beside him and that you ask for forgiveness for all your sins. Its not a specific prayer just a prayer that you tell God all these things FROM YOUR HEART that you accept the holy spirit, this prayer of salvation is the key of going to Heaven. Try to always do right by God no matter what and ask for forgiveness of all your sins and you will got to Heaven!

The Bible doesn't list a specific prayer of salvation. And it doesn't give a list of things to do to be saved. It does talk about believing in Jesus. And there are many images given of how it is about a relationship with God. I think it is about grace, love, faith & relationship

It is not a prayer that saves you; it is belief in Jesus Christ and His claims. It is trusting Him to save you from your sins and get you on your way to Heaven!

I believe it resembles begging for your life in many ways. It goes something like this:
"Please Jeeeesus (sp?) save me. Please Lord. Jeeeeesus, Jeeeeeesus. Hallelujah."
