religion inherently breeds bigotry. people see themselves as better than others when they become religious. once they see themselves better they tend to hide behind their religion like a small kids hides behind a bully and throws insults out at people.

religion separates people, then rreligion tells those people they are the chosen ones and everyone else is either an infisel, an unbeleiver or worse...evil...then you get your holy wars, your crusades, your inquisitions and your george bushs'.

religion is a plague. it infects the mids of usually intelligent people.

Well, it sounds like first of all, your problem is with Christians. So, lemme put it this way. The bible, Jesus, and the origins are all accepting. The people who have come and gone, are imperfect. Jesus' message was about acceptance. For one example, the story of the Good Samaritan. Today, it would be called the Good Palestinian who helped a Jewish man when the other Jews wouldn't touch him. Sometimes, people who call themselves religious are just hiding behind a "religion", and they are missing the point. Just because the most outspoken "followers" are biggots, doesn't mean the whole group is. And it sure doesn't mean that it is what the central belief of that group is. Take Osama for example, most muslims aren't like him, or believe in the same meaning he uses to promote violence. There will always be extremists who make a bad respresentation for others.

Yes, some, but not all. Also, depends on what religion and branch. Also, I don't know if religious people are more bigotted than the average person. It may be you are a bigot to a religious person. It is human nature to hang around people who think like you, and are in your "group". Also, it is hard to accept that your group is wrong if it is indeed wrong. It becomes an "us" (insiders) vs. "them"(outsiders) thing and that breeds biggotry. Also a religious person finds that people that are not religious are just not accepting of him/her because faith gets in the way. This just encourages more biggotry from both sides.

Why are non believers such biggots? I mean they say they are tollerant to everyone's views but they use the most profane language to answer the simplest thought provoking questions. Why do you hate those who love God? Answer these first then ask you question again.

Most of the worlds religions are designed to make it's members feel insignificant and unworthy, They would have you believe that you can not be heard by God because you are a sinner and can only enter paradise through their intercession. Feeling powerless, the FEARFUL don the mantle of righteousness, and proceed to cast a dark light on others outside of their congregations. This bigoted behavior lends to the illusion of superiority. Bigots are loveless and filled with hate; because they do not practice the teaching of Love and Tolerance.

I think you are being a bigot and unaccepting.

I don't have to accept something just to show love. I detest abortions because I think G*d does. I want to show compassion to the one thinking about abortion because G*d would. I Detest homosexuality because G*d does. I want to show the person trapped in that life style the right love because I believe G*d would.

Jesus, when he would forfgive a sin would say "go and sin no more" He did not say "oh it's ok if you do that who am I to judge."

I do agree we don't have to be hateful but that works both ways.

I'm religious, and i know exactly what are you talking about. lots of religious people think that know everything. they thing that if they live exactly how Bible tells us,they are perfect and without sins. but that's not true. it's impossible to have no sins in world how it is today. for example, most of religious people hate homosexuals. i don't hate them because i don't have a reason to hate them. a lot of gay people are much better persons than those religious people who hate them! so my point is, people just aren't the way they seem to be.no one is perfect

They think they are doing "what god wants them to do."

But honestly - Does "God" really want these "Christians" (or whoever) causing so much hate. I haven't met too many Christians that haven't referred to homosexuals as lesser, and the same for those of different faith. So you think your God is right? FINE! Keep it to yourself. Preaching to people your beliefs about being pure, and not sinning, is hypocritical. DO NOT JUDGE LEST YOU BE JUDGED!! People seem to forget that very important rule.

Augustine once said, in the third century or so, these words: "Never judge a philosophy by its abuse." These are wise words. I do not know why some Christians are hypocrites, except for the fact that they are humans, and humans make mistakes. This is the best I can do. :)

It seems to go hand-in-hand with that whole "I'm better than you" attitude. Like the whole "second coming" thing. How un-Christianlike is it to find pleasure in the concept that all the non-believers stay here and get punished while the faithful flit off to heaven?
