I know this sounds like a dumb question, but would there be a major difference in price? In all of your opinions, what would be a general estimate?

Carpet is always cheaper up front but you have to think about longevity. Laminate floors will last way longer with heavier use. Remember one thing, if you have a limited budget, your pad will decide how long your carpet lasts so make sure you buy great pad and save some on the carpet!

It would depend on a lot of factors. First of all, what kind of carpet? What kind of padding? How many rooms, because depending on where you go, they will charge by room - not just by square footage. This can also work out for you if you get a discount (Luna carpet buy 1 room, get 1 room free)... It also depends on if you have pets, or children. If you do not - you may prefer the warmth and softness of the carpet. However, I warn you now that carpet is much harder to keep clean with kids and pets running about, and so you will pay more to keep it clean over time. Check out some of your dealers - most will give you free estimates and then decide what the pros and cons would be for your situation.

I think the carpet would be cheaper however you will have to vaccuum it and clean it regularly; and it holds smells and mites. The pergo flooring might be more expensive, but it adds more value to your home and it's easy to take care of in the long run.

Carpeting is about half as expensive as getting Pergo done.

Prego not only does it last for years, it looks great and unlike carpet it is alot easier to clean and does not show wear spots. If you get a scratch a walnut rubbed on the scratch works.

depending on the type of carpet, if you want good carpeting, then pergo would be cheaper.
