As a youth worker, i tell everyone that their relationship with Christ needs to be able to fall back to something big - a miracle, a healing, a drastic turning point.

In times of despair, they need to go back to this point in their life where they know, beyond a shadow of a doubt, that God was with them, worked through and around them. Then if God was true to them then, He will be true to them now, in their time of trouble.

That's the short answer...

Developing faith in God can be a life-long process, so my answer would be to not get discouraged.

During trials in life it can appear that God is far away. Sometimes our prayers don't seem to get answered and we see bad things happening in the world that we cannot explain. These things can make us feel that there is no God or if there is, he is doing a bad job in running the Universe.

It is fine to admit that at certain points in life, your faith is weak. This is normal and human. It is even fine to tell God that you don't feel that you have much faith left.

Over time, faith does develop. Sometimes what strengthens our faith the most is just a mystical experience one day of looking at a flower or the ocean and knowing in our hearts a deep connection to God and to all life in the universe. So often, it is not really something that you get from reading books and trying to prove academically that God exists.

Some have said that instead of seeking God, perhaps what we should do is just let God find us.

My advise would be to be patient and wait for God.

I would tell you to pray for this person on a daily basis. God still answers prayers. I have come to learn when people are not interested in learning about God, nothing can change there belief only the love of God. Prayer is the only thing that can work. There are people in the bible who have experienced harder times that we could ever imagine and yet still kept their faith. Have this person read books that entail the healing people have received despite what doctors have said just because they believed and prayed and other have prayed for them as well. A good book is Pat Robertson's Miracles Can be Yours. It is very good and very informative. I may not agree with all Pat Robertson's views but this book has definately changed my life and my families for the better.

Constant prayer can soften the most hardened heart.

Acts 19:9 states: "Some went on hardening themselves and not believing, speaking injuriously about The Way before the multitude."
Notice that true faith was called "The Way," and, indeed, it was a 'way' of life for those early Christians and true Christians today. Our lives do have a purpose, not just to live sad, suffering, short lives, but to live forever on a clean, new earth. Jesus Christ taught his followers of the 'Way' of righteous whereby faithful Christian would live in new Paradise or Kingdom that the earth will become, with Christ as the King of that Kingdom.
Revelation 21:3,4 says:" With that I heard a loud voice from the throne say: "Look! The tent of God is with mankind, and he will reside with them, and they will be his peoples. And God himself will be with them. And he will wipe out every tear from their eyes, and death will be no more, neither will mourning nor outcry nor pain be anymore. The former things have passed away." This is the hope that many millions have today.
If you or your friend would like a free home Bible study to learn as much as you can about "the Way" of faith, ask any one of Jehovah's Witnesses that you meet, or go to the website listed below.

Keep your faith. Pray about it and ask God to give you strentgh and guidance. 10 yrs ago I had 3rd stage cancer and survived because I lost all fear and had a strong faith in God that I would be okay. Disregard that stupid answer from allgood. Also keep a good sense of humor and laugh a lot and you'll be fine.

The best advice that I can give you is to first recognize who God is! For example, most children when they are small or infants automatically know who their mother is because they spent 9 months in her womb. Right?

That infant/child has so much faith and confidence in their mother to take care of them, love them and nourish them. Well, in order to have faith in God you must spend time in His "womb". Get to know the One who sent you...the One who created you and I assure you that as you connect with Him your faith will grow.

Then what will happen is there will be certain situations that will be presented to you (a test of your faith) and if you choose to believe/have faith in Him (because you've spent time in His "womb" or presence). You will come out on top in the situation and you will definetly know that He was the One that helped you "through".

I know that it is not easy having faith in someone that you can not see but fortunately for us He left us His manual (the Bible) as a guide to help build our faith when we are weak as well. So my friend, spend time with your Creator and watch as your faith in Him increases - yes storms will come but be thankful that God is consistent and faithful.

God Bless You.

I would tell them to research research, and then more research. Then look deep inside one's self. Research different religions, in fact all the different religions. Find out about what each one is about. That is the only way one can make an informed decision. If they were meant to have faith in G-d then they will find their faith in their own way.

You are coming around. He does not exist. Stop, and really ask yourself if you believe in that. Really think about it, and what it means. Don't just have faith, an intelligent human needs more to go on.

Look at all your evidence. Take the time to look within yourself and your belief system. I went through the same thing after reading about various religions and Mythologys. Only you can decide for yourself whether God is real for you.

Learn to have faith in yourself, and your faith in God, whatever it may be, will not be troubled.
