First off, if you are African-American, I wouldn't suggest you use a clarifying shampoo every time you wash. This will only dry your hair off and make it snap. I use KeraCare Hydrating Detangling Shampoo. It doesn't leave a residue after using it. But if you have used a lot of products on your hair, ie grease, gel, moisturizing lotions, or serum, I would suggest you use a clarifying shampoo once every 4-6 weeks to remove any build up on your scalp and hair. A good clarifying shampoo is KeraCare 1st Lather Shampoo and it won't make your hair feel like it's stripped after using it.

I found some great shampoos at www.BioWize.us. They have two shampoos that I have tried with incredible results. One is KukuiWash Shampoo and Guava Nectar Shampoo. I quote:

Formulated for color-treated hair. Hawaiian Protein Flora Complex and Kukui Nut Oil work to refine and restore your hair’s natural brilliance and versatility. The highly unsaturated oils of the Kukui Nut are easily absorbed into the hair, creating a soft luster without allowing build-up to weigh down the hair. Treat your hair with the essence of guava nectar.

Safe & Natural Ingredients: Sodium Myreth Sulfate, Cocamidopropyl betaine, Cocaminde DEA, Panthenol, Sodium Chloride, Citric Acid, Fragrance, Methylchloroisothiazolinone, Methylisothiazolinone, Tetrasodium EDTA, Hydrolyzed wheat protein, Glycol Distearate, Cocamide MEA, PPG-4 deceth-4, Polyquaternium-10, Dimethicone, Polyquaternium-11, Cocos Nucifera (Coconut) Extract, Macrocystis Pyrifera (kelp) Extract, Nasturtium Officianale (Watercress) Extract, Aleruites Moluccana Seed (Kukui Nut) Oil, Passiflora Incarnata Fruit (Passionflower) Extract, Maranta arundinacea Root (Arrowroot) Extract, PsidiumGuajava (Guava) Fruit Extract, Rubus Idaeus (Raspberry) Fruit Extract.

I love this stuff!!

Another reason why it's so good is because of the following quote off of the same website:

Is your medicine cabinet full of poisons? Many common personal care products that you and your family use every day often contain harmful chemicals that are known to cause cancer and other major health problems. BioWize™ Botanicals are a safe alternative to these dangerous products because they do not contain any of these harmful ingredients:

Sodium Lauryl Sulphate (SLS)
A known skin irritant and cancer causing agent. Used to make bubbles. Absorbed by and stored in the liver.

Laureth
May contain dioxane, a potential cancer-causing agent. Dioxane is also an estrogen mimic.

Propylene Glycol
Shown to cause liver and kidney abnormalities in animal studies. May inhibit skin cell growth.
