When the mom is ready and before you give them away. And please have the cat spayed so that this doesn't happen again. Only experienced breeders should be breeding animals - if you don't know when to wean them and when to separate them, then you shouldn't be breeding animals. Sorry! Not with 2-5 million of them killed every year because they don't have homes!

most people will tell you 6 weeks, but a mother cat if let to her own devices will nurse her babies for around 12 weeks. in a domesticated situation where alternate food is not scarce then i reccommend no sooner than 8 weeks. do not adopt out 6 week old kittens, they are too small and can be easily injured by a child or another animal. i prefer to wait until they are 12 weeks old before adopting them out as they are more established and are "little cats" and not what i call babies. a good breeder usually wont allow their babies to go until 3-4 months old. you can start to suppliment their nursing by adding in canned kitten food and warm water sofened kitten crunchies at around sx weeks. once fully weaned from mom you will need to feed them 3-4 times a day.

I've had 23 happy and healthy cats and 14 litters of kittens. The mother will get them off her nipple before ten weeks normally about 8 or nine but I always took my kittens off my self between 8 and nine weeks and if you know what your doing there is nothing wrong with this. My fourteen litters say so.

The mom-cat will decide WHEN they should be weaned. ABSOLUTELY not before 8 weeks, and ideally around 12. Kittens CAN be removed from mommy AFTER they're weaned if she does it around 8 weeks, but ideally they should stay with her until 12 weeks so they can learn social skills and other cat things from mommy.
You can attempt to start them on kitten food if they'll eat it (and mommy-cat should be eating it too throughout nursing) to get them started, but let the mom determine when her babies have nursed long enough. It certainly doesn't hurt the babies to have both kitten food and mom's milk.

They shouldn't be taken away from their mom until they're 8 weeks old, no less. They need their mom's milk and to be close to her. After that, you can start feeding them kitten food and a little milk. Evaporated milk in a can is good for them when they're that little because it's kind of thick and has a taste kind of like their mom's milk.

Usually you want to wein your kittens around 4-6 weeks...that is also when you want to start thier vaccinations. Around 5 weeks is when thier maturnal antibodies begin to fall...so you want to start thier kitten series.

Atleast they should be 3 weeks - 3 months before you weening them from there mother. Cause you wanna make sure that they are properly maintained and they can survive on there own.
