Sigh.
I am so tired of making this point.
The fact that there is no reward in heaven or punishment in hell is precisely the reason that we should not quit our jobs and do whatever we want.
Our time on Earth is the only time we have. If we waste that time we do a disservice to ourselves and our fellow humans. It is incumbent upon us to do what we can to make the world a better place for everyone.
Atheists are not the hedonistic pleasure-seekers that we are constantly made out to be. The faithful assume that if there is no god then it "doesn't matter" what we do. That is totally incorrect. *Because* there is no god it very much matters what we do.

NO because there are still consquences. What one does can cause suffering or other misfornation to many. If there is no God, heaven, or after life then that means life is more sacride. After death you will still want to be remembered by others and generations to come. Some may to choosed to be remembered for the horrible things they have done. others for the good that they have done.

Good question! If you are reasoning with your self, that your belief in heaven is the only reason you are a good person, your understanding of life is limited. To be a good person benifits you physically, mentally, emotionally, sexually, and spiritually. It's hard to bargain with God(God I'll be good and then you'll let me in yo crib)He knows your heart thats why he ask for you to be honest. His connection to us is in thruth even if its not socially right. We stand a better chance dealing with our obstacles if we are honest about them, not trying to fit some unreasonable mold formed by religion or society.Right now you are preparing a place its your decision what type of kingbom come on earth as it is in heaven, you want!

Well no. This life IS all you have. If we just did what we wanted, society would break down. With no organized society, all we would have is the ability to make stone tools. By having a job, and following the rules of society, we hold it together. Having organized society means we can make things to entertain, like PlayStation and fast cars. It is more fun to not just do what we want.

No you should pursue other answers to the same questions. You should be a good person because that's the right thing to do in a society, not because some all-powerful entity scares you with threats of eternal pain and suffering. Plus you can have sex before marriage.

Actually, no, but not for the reason stated. I don't live my life with its joys and sorrows just for the end factor of going to heaven because I don't believe in heaven. I live it with a spiritual tone to enjoy this very, very short life with those I love. You sound either bitter, or hopeless. Either way, I suppose you should go talk to someone, like your pastor or such.

No.. life still matters.. just up to the point that you die. If the only thing that matters to you is the supposed afterlife then.. why don't you kill children at or before birth.. you'll be saving them from sin and they can go straight to your supposed heaven.

Are you trying to say that the only thing that makes your life worth living is a fairy tale? The only thing preventing you from running around killing people is that you are afraid of what a mythological figure might think? That's actually pretty sad.

If the only reason you do things is to please your imaginary friend, or to avoid making him angry, the answer is yes.
You must live a very lonely life and have a miserable existence if that's all you live for.
Rules are determined by the US Constitution, federal, state & local laws. Responsibilities are a matter of choice.
But, neither have any direct correlation to any religion.

No coz we're all alive now and we shouldn't hurt people coz those people still have feelings and are alive. U wouldn't like it if someone hurt u so u shouldn't hurt them. U like if there is nothing people shouldn't ruin other peoples lives. We should try to be nice to each other and make the best of it if we're only here once.
