First of all, make sure that you are invited to bring a date. If the invitation reads to just your name, that means you are not supposed to bring a guest. If the phrase "and guest" is added, then you can bring a date to the wedding.

I would attend a wedding alone. You never know who you might meet at the wedding.

A date? You seem to have the solemn and formal occasion of a wedding confused with a disco. The guests are those who are known to the bridal couple or their families; these guests should not expect to bring guests of their own. Besides, how are you to meet NEW gentlemen if you are too insecure to go anywhere without dragging a date along?

Well, I'm married, but I went to my best friend's wedding alone - granted, I was a bridesmaid, but still. Even if I didn't have a "permanent date" ;o), I'd be willing to go to a wedding alone. I'm assuming that most weddings you'd go to have plenty of people you know there, plus, there are always people to meet - potential new dates, perhaps?

Yep. It's your chance to mingle with others, and you might meet someone at the wedding!

Also, keep in mind, if your name is the only name on the invitation, it is not proper to bring a date. Only when it says "Jane Doe & Guest" or "Jane Doe Tom Smith" would it be appropriate to bring your date.

Yes. I wouldn't bring a date to a wedding unless the invite has my name and "guest" or "date" beside it.

Absolutely! There are always cute guys at weddings. The grooms friends will be there. I wouldn't care. Just have fun!

Why wouldn't you go to a wedding without a date?

Yes!!!!

Most definitely. why do you think there are so many " single" women grabbing for the bouqet and vice versa for the garter belt..
Many of them are unattached...

It's a nice place to network and meet new people...

If you feel very uncomfortable, volunteer to help at the wedding as a hostess or usher...
