Okay my husband is taking me out tonight we are going to a mexican restaurant. I usally get a beef buritto, beans, and rice. Is that loaded with calories? If so do you have any suggestions on what I should order?

Hi there, more than calories this is loaded with carbs. Its not really such a good idea to eat a lot of carbs at night, since you have less time to burn all this energy which then gets stored as fat. Instead, you could order a fajita - that way you get your beef, veggies, beans etc.. but you can choose to eat fewer tortialls (the carb part) and no rice at all.

Enjoy your night out! :) oh, and please give me a best answer. Thanks.

None of that stuff by itself is really bad for you. The beef probably has the most fat and calories, so you may want to go with chicken instead.

The real problem comes with what they add to the other things. For example, regular refried beans are good for you, but some restaurants add lard to them, which obviously adds a lot of fat and calories. You may want to ask for vegetarian beans. I'm not a vegetarian, but they are almost the same in taste. Better yet, ask them what they add to their stuff or ask for nutrition information. I think all restaurant are supposed to have it available.

If it is a chain restaurant, you may be able to find the information on-line, too.

Happy dining!
