White filling (Universal Composite) is extremely strong and is bonded to your teeth with a Cure Light.
I am 32 years old and have never had a cavity but if I ever did I would get the white composite.
I even have my dentist use it on my children.

Plastic is prettier, but silver is more durable. For back teeth, silver is just fine, unless you laugh with your mouth wide open. Stay away from sticky foods, especially candy like taffy, jujifruits, etc. I have had a filling that has been in for years pulled out by a sugar daddy.

The white fillings are a lot less major even if the silver fillings are superior and intensely last more. i have had silver fillings because i became 12yrs old and now that i'm 32, they're the originals and that i have not had any problems with sensitivity- do exactly not chew on aluminum foil. My son (who's 6) has the white filling and we've had to bypass decrease back two times to get them crammed because they save falling out. good element that is a infant teeth. good success!

Plastic I think looks better but have silver also and they have lasted over 40 years. So your choice looks or durability. Go easy on the taffy for a day or so.

tooth colored ones, (composite resin) are better because they are the same color as your teeth, amalgam (silver) probably last longer but dont look very good and are still under intense speculation because of the amount of mercury in them. it has not proven to harmful yet, but some people believe that it may be the cause of many illnesses, some people cant have amalgam at all. i wouldnt take the chances even though it is cheaper. you can eat anything you want with fillings.

silver is much bettter because plastic, although it may look better, is not as durable and they could easily fall out if they are not taken good care of.
