The connection you seek lies in the imaginations of Christians.

1.) Sophia (not osophy) is better translated as "wisdom" or perhaps "truth" than knowledge. Philosophy <> knowledge. No matter how you translate it, it is the "Love of '___'", not "___" itself.
2.) Philosophy certainly does not limit itself to empirical knowledge. Plato himself argues that all knowledge is received a priori.
3.) It is not self evident that God exists. In fact, there is no evidence of this whatsoever. That is why you hear the word "Faith" used so much.
Edit:
Also, RandyGE:
"Philosophy dictates that if there is a God, He must have made an attempt to communicate with us."
That is a non sequitur logical fallacy.
" Similarly, you cannot assume the existence of Jesus without admitting the validity of at least the Gospels."
That is also a non sequitur logical fallacy.

Ironically, it can be summed up with philosophy. Philosophy dictates that if there is a God, He must have made an attempt to communicate with us. Similarly, you cannot assume the existence of Jesus without admitting the validity of at least the Gospels. All other evidence that Jesus existed rests with Josephus and others, all of whom claim to be taking from the Gospels. So, either you believe that Jesus existed or you don't. If you don't, there is no way I can answer your question. If you do, you must admit the Gospels at least into the answer. Knowing this, I shall proceed in brief. Jesus claimed to be God. He worked miracles that had never before been seen (giving a blind man from birth sight--John 9) raising people from the dead (John 11), and even His enemies had to admit that never had anyone spoke as He spoke. When He said, "which of you accuses me of sin?" No one could answer. He himself claimed to be God in John 8 and John 10. He is either a liar, which His character does not permit, a lunatic, which does not make sense given the level of devotion from sensible men, even scholars, or He was Lord. You may accept Him, you may reject Him, but you cannot simply respect Him. He didn't leave us that philosophical privilege. Thanks for the question!

Where can the empirical evidence supporting this statement:
"it is self evident that GOD exists"
be found?
If such evidence exists, billions of people seem to have missed it, including the majority of natural scientists.
Your underlying premise is just as flawed as those who claim Jesus existed or was who the bible claims him to have been.

I asked these very questions...and i am christian now, and Jesus to me, is more than the bible says, i can feel him...and this is to ME as empirical as it gets...i experienced him...i can feel his hand in my life, and i know it's him...THIS IS THE ONLY EMPIRICAL EVIDENCE YOU WILL EVER FIND. Because, people are never a credible reference...books...[although i believe in the Bible] can be doubted, but it's beyond that...what are the books made for? Your soul, and there lies your answer.
Look there...:) He loves you...

If you have faith you just feel it in your heart. You get personal evidence Jesus to me was the ultimate in human and the way he lived has many lessons to teach us while i don't believe in organized religion i do believe in him and the goodness he put in the world is still evident today in the actions of his followers that do so much good in communities hes a great example of how we all should be.
