I want to send an email and be notified when it has been viewed-not just delivered.

If you have Microsoft Outlook or Outlook Express, you can get a read receipt, but Yahoo! MSN/Hotmail, I don't think so!

Yes, In outlook you go to options and then receipts and check the box prior to sending the e-mail.

you can set it in Mozilla thunderbird
go to options, then return receipt.
