Because people are convinced that sexuality is a choice. They think that they woke up one day and "chose" to be straight because that was socially acceptable and they "choose" not to think of the same sex in that manner. They forget it has more to do with the level of estrogen and testosterone in puberty than in preferring one over the other.

This means that homosexuality is a disease and not a choice. This is like saying, "If someone can have a disorder, then why can't they be born rude." Simple. Everyone knows that the way you act is a choice. Get it? What you do is determined by what you chose. Epilepsy is where the body is no longer under its own control. A chemical imbalance is something WRONG with your brain. Being gay doesn't mean someone is mentally impaired, or that they have spasms out of their control. It is a conscious choice, even a lifestyle, that is their own fault. I reject the gay-gene disease theory. I think that's less tolerant of homosexuality than anything else (and I am against homosexuality.)

At one point homosexuality was considered a psychological condition but the medical community dismissed that notion and when the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, Fourth Edition (DSM-IV) was published it was taken out. Out of various studies done none have conclusively proven how homosexuality comes about in people.

However, given that I have many gay friends and all have told me that they have always felt the way they have since childhood I do not believe they ever had the 'choice' to feel any differently than they do. They certainly don't believe that it was just a social choice. It is now the 21st century, this should be a non issue. We are all the same, if we are cut we all bleed red, we all have the same emotions. Live and let live.

I don't think that homosexuality is a neurological disorder, however I don't know what causes it. The point is, that I think someone may be born homosexual, whether it be a spiritual or a biological thing.

What the Bible says about Handicapped People
Ex.4:11
Who maketh the dumb, or deaf, or the seeing, or the blind? have not I the LORD?

Lev.21:17-23
Whosoever ... hath any blemish, let him not approach to offer the bread of his God. For whatsoever man he be that hath a blemish, he shall not approach: a blind man, or a lame, or he that hath a flat nose, or any thing superfluous, Or a man that is brokenfooted, or brokenhanded, Or crookbackt, or a dwarf, or that hath a blemish in his eye, or be scurvy, or scabbed, or hath his stones broken; No man that hath a blemish of the seed of Aaron the priest shall come nigh to offer the offerings of the LORD made by fire: he hath a blemish; he shall not come nigh to offer the bread of his God. ... Only he shall not go in unto the vail, nor come nigh unto the altar, because he hath a blemish; that he profane not my sanctuaries.

I think homosexuality is a sexual preference...not a biological disorder....

do you feel that you need a doctor to correct what's wrong with you?

or...do you feel that you're fine the way you are.....and that there is nothing wrong with your sexual preference?

edit: note to julie : effeminate does not mean homosexual

Honey, if you want to come out of the closet and be accepted, just do it. No Christian should condemn you and if they do, just tell them "Judge not, less ye be judged by God Himself." That should shut them up. I've got a gay friend, maybe I could hook you up.

I was told that it's not natural, but it seems homosexuals are a little different, even from a very early age. . .so who knows?
