All dreams are is your mind worrying out problems or questions that you had that day.
You had a dream about her rape because she is worried and your mind is trying to help.
She had the dream for any number of reason maybe she saw a wanted criminal, a TV show or a friend was raped and is keeping it quiet and her mind picks up these small clues to solve the mystery.

Dreams have a lot do with our sub-conscious. Sometimes we can have dreams that are like instant replays of what we did that day or they could play back how we're feeling. This dream could just be a fear your friend has. Once she told you about the dream what most likely happened is that you started giving it a lot of thought. By the time you went to sleep subconsciously you were still thinking about it and thus you had that dream. We have to remember that the reason we have dreams is so that our brains can keep functioning because if our brain would turn off during sleep other involuntary actions would cease to exist like breathing and your heart beat. Dreams can often be complete nonsense. Think of it this way: your brain is just channeling certain feelings to stay awake while you rest. These feelings turn into dreams. Don't give too much thought to any dream because it's just that, a dream.

Yes, usually dreams have meanings. Sometimes dreams foretell the future, and sometimes show emotion, etc. Also sometimes dreams mean the complete opposite. Like if you had a dream that you died, you would actually live longer. Or if you had a dream of falling, falling off a cliff, which those also have meanings. Get the point?
Looks like this is serious and you should protect her. Watch out man! I don't want to scare you, but I'm just telling you to be careful.
You might want to get a book about dreams, or talk to an expert, like a psychologist.

Dreams do have meanings but they aren't always straight forward.
Rape can symbolize a loss of control or being forced to do something you don't want to. There may be a situation in her life that is making her feel out of control.
When she told you of this dream, it worried you so much you started thinking about it in your subconscious and dreamed of it yourself.
I don't feel it is a warning of things to come. I think she just needs to rebalance things in her life.

maybe it was something you both watch together. and if that's not it just try being aware of her surrounding and don't let her travel alone at night by her self and if she has to take protection along with her. but don't let it bother you. it's just a dream and she had told you about it an you probably had it in your mind while you fell asleep

dreams originate from your sub concience. something you've heard, seen, tasted, feared, or done. that stay in your sub concience without you knowing that it is even there. You can find books on dream analysis at any public library.
